Generator size for 1995 Sundancer 330

Hello, does anyone know what the min generator wattage would work for a stock 330 sundancer (1995) with a 12k btu marine air system?
The old generator was missing and not sure what they came with, looking at a small 3kw onan as a replacement possibility.

Thanks, do you remember the brand or other info on it? it might be easiest to try to find the exact replacement for easy fit? or maybe not....
 
You can get on the Sea Ray website, download the original spec sheet with equipment listing, and it will.list the generator option for that year and model.

I'm not at.my laptop or else I would send you the link.
 
My 99 340 also had the 4.5, Westerbeke. Plenty of power for the boat.

Good luck with your project. In order to properly set expectations you may want to avoid using the word "easy", however. This will be a fun project. Take pics and share!
 
If you need one, I have a friend that refurbs Kohler gas gens and has a couple 6.5kw units. Under $5k
 
My 95 330DA had a 4.5 as well, it was white so i think it was Kohler. I always had problems with it, plus it's installed in a crappy spot on the starboard stern. You'll hear everyone on here to tell you, use it, run it, even if you don't need to. Especially since it's carburated.
 
mine came stock with a kohler 6.5. I Replaced it with a Kohler 5e with no issues. i also have an inverter mounted above the generator in the rope locker
