Hello all...looking for info on using starboard or other suggestions of materials to cover original electronics holes at helm on my yet to pickup (new/old) '95 370....old/original electronics do not work. Anyone have pictures of before and after or could lead me in the direction....thanks

Other than maybe a new GPS/plotter not really needing new electronics. Pretty much apartment on water at the shore so I would just like to clean up the dash

Starboard will cover just about anything and can be cut quite easily. Or you could buy new helm panels from a place like Flounder Pounder, blank, for future use?

Hopefully you'll at least make sure your VHF works....

Lol of course that is one of the new pieces I will be buying. this looks like it’s original Being a Delaware river 15 year veteran boater what would you recommend for down the shore that is reliable as far as platters and VHF radio‘s Without breaking the bank

Standard Horizon is a great brand with a great reputation. Their GX1600/GX1700 would be outstanding with GPS/DSC. GX1300 would also be great but doesn't have the DSC/distress capability.

For plotters and the like the decision is very much Ford/Chevy. I'm a Garmin guy myself. Simrad is awesome, Furuno has lots of followers, Raymarine is a big player. None of them cheap :)

Thank you great information I appreciate it. I pick up this big girl sometime end of next week just trying to plan out my first few weeks First project will be ripping out the ugly blue carpet in the salon Ugh

+1 Standard Horizon VHF. Replaced the old Raymarine with the SH model that has GPS and AIS for half the price. Favorite part was adding the $35 loudhailer. Safety, convenience, and it's Loud. The jetskiers around me are on notice.

As the man said above the nav equipment is preference. Have to go to the store and play with them and talk to a lot of people. What I thought I would like wasn't the same in person.

Enjoy the boat it's a nice one.

I have 3 touchscreen plotters and a VHF on my dash all networked together.

It sounds like I'm bragging, but only the VHF was bought new/full price, and I regret that purchase!

If you're willing to search and be patient, you can get fairly recent units that have been factory re-furbed, close-outs, pulled from a demo, or purchased from a private seller.

A friend of mine freshened his whole dash by wrapping the factory original dash panels with vinyl wrap. That's not as practical in a Sea Ray because of the backlit switch labels and some of the System Monitors, but it's something to consider.

Re: VHF What I regret is spending extra money to match a brand instead of prioritizing quality and features. Prices of features such as built-in GPS and AIS receivers are coming way down. Units with GPS can be had for as little as $150, and AIS isn't too much more. You should plan to connect the plotter to the VHF regardless, but having a VHF with its own GPS is ideal from the standpoint of redundancy.

Everyone...thank you so much for the wealth of information here. Bring-on-another-thousand...gotta love the boating life! As soon as I take possession and do the upgrades I will share some pictures
