Hi everyone,
I just purchased a super clean loaded 340 and want to install Hurley H3o Davit system to the platform. Problem is how on earth do I bolt through this hugely thick platform? Someone mentioned inside access but I would need to find a very educated field mouse to crawl in there. Anyone have any tips to share bolting through the swim platform?
Thanks
Michael

I thru bolted my davit to the swim platform (4" sq stainless backer plates). I have V drives which might actually be easier to access that part of the boat.

So I guess you had to crawl inside the void from the bulge?

cut a hole in the bottom and install deckplates to cover the holes.

I am not sure I would do that. Deckplates are not waterproof and they are plastic. If they are installed under the platform they will be impossible (or extremely awkard) to inspect for breaks or leaks in future and would potentially let a lot of water in if they failed.

Michael, I wanted to see how you installed the Hurley system. I just purchased one and there is no access to inside the swim platform of my 2006, 340 SR. Did you toggle bolt or come up with another way.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

Despite the comment above I think the approach would be to cut holes on the bottom side of the swim platform. If you use a large hole saw (3-4 inches) and save the pieces you can easily epoxy and fiberglass the holes after installation.

ALL done ;) My Marina crawled into the swim platform space. we had to remove the Port engine for a new flywheel when our starter seized and stripped teeth so it made easy access.

@HallOfDreams thanks for sharing your hurley H30 install. Do you have any pictures with the dinghy off the Hurley? Also do you have any install pictures? Looking to do this. Thanks

Hiya this is all I have so far, only just got the boat from the forced lock down. The system is unbelievably easy to use and one person can do it. The key is to have the Hurley so the dinghy transom is o the end of the mount or find your Center of balance of your dinghy. It then is like a feather!

Thanks @HallOfDreams appreciate the pics. How did you know where to mount the dinghy (offsetting it from center)? Did you position it this way to have easy access on and off the vessel? What size dinghy and engine? I'm looking at an AB 9'6 with a 15hp yamaha.

best to mount 60/40 so the mount is more towards the the stern of the tender will be. If you have a 340 I can give you exact measurements next weekend. I have a 10’ innovocean ALD300 (10’) with a 15hp tohatsu. You will find it right getting about the platform, Searay platforms are a bit of a squeeze. If you need access to both sides you can deflate the ribs side chamber. I only do this when I know I’m going through one certain lock.
