We are in the process of replacing the boat's (06 52DB) electronics including the chartplotters. The mounting plate for the original Raymarine E120's will not work well with the Garmin 8616's (see below picture) so I need some blank material. Any help sourcing this material? I'll be calling Founder Pounder this morning but their web site doesn't have any
Thanks, Tom

Tom,

Flounder Pounder only shows what they have in inventory on their website. I needed a flat black panel for a Boston Whaler I was restoring for use in the bays and Ken was able to get not only the flat black but a large piece of flat white to make a new fuel manifold panel for my 450. I'm sure they can help you..........

Just out of curiosity, is there enough fiberglass on the dash where you could mount the MFD's directly to the fiberglass? Or do you need the backer? Just wondering as maybe you can keep it simpler.

So this got much easier than I thought - Called Tecnografic and they are the OEM supplier and can custom make the same panel to fit the Garmins.
Thanks for the help all!

There is however the E120's are taller and one would see the fastener holes when the 8616's are installed; plus I desire to have the OEM look.

Wouldn't be hard to fill the holes with gel. But, gotcha - aesthetics is all about what matters to you - my opinion means bupkis :)

I don't know about "bupkis" - you know it's always valued from my perspective.
Technografic sent a CAD drawing that afternoon for my review and approval; 2 week lead time and the material will be same as original. I'll post some pics when installed..

Tom,

Are you doing a complete switchover to Garmin? What promo you tomswitch from Raymarine? I’m kind of at the same place. The two E120Ws we have are in need of replacement this winter. I was originally planning to go with Axiom Pros, but I just bought a small Garmin 7608 for an engine gauge display and I’m quite impressed. I only chose Garmin because Volvo supplies them now on new engine packages.

I'll tell ya, I did a lot of research and simply due to the ease of integration / future upgradability It came down to Furuno and Garmin. In the end Garmin took it for me for simplicity, charts, and autopilot. That's not to say any less for the Maretron equipment which will monitor and manage the boat's non-navigational systems.

Sounds like good customer service there - and a 2 week turnaround is more than reasonable for that. That's good to know...

Yes - definitely post pics!
