have you lost your wedding ring in you lake\ river\ or ocean?

I too lost my wedding ring on my honeymoon (ever wonder where that word came from?) in the surf in Puerta Vallarta. I looked for it for about an hour but couldn't find it.

So I went up to my new bride and said, "Honey, I have decided to start a new tradition. As a token of my love I have cast my wedding ring into the surf to commemerate the joy and love we have had here."

With a look that could kill she replied dryly, "Lost it, huh?"

I still have and wear my wedding ring. My wife, on the other hand has lost two diamond wedding rings, diamond earrings, a ruby ring... I'm done with rings.

Not sure who, but someone on this board used his ring to short out his battery and almost lost his finger while doing so. I seem to remember some pretty ugly pictures of the charred remains.

Tim, I think.

After over 20 years of marriage I somehow lost my ring in the Panama City Beach surf. The irony is that I was metal detecting with an underwater detector at the time. :smt021

At the exact moment I knew I lost it the waves picked way up as a storm started blowing in so I had to get out of the water. I've been back to that spot many times detecting but I've never been able to find the dang thing.

However, as a replacement I ended up buying one of these Tungsten Carbide rings which is nearly indestructible and was less than $50 when I bought it:

I've had it for over 2 years now and I like it better than my original gold band. I still wish I could find that sucker though.

I carry my metal detector on the boat just for that reason.
I found rings & car keys & eye glasses for other people.

As a rule I should get a 20% finders fee of the value of the item,
But I'm just happy to help someone out.The free beer is always nice !!.

Hi Humph, Do you mind me asking what metal detector you use? Need to go looking for a White Gold wedding ring. Thanks in advance Steve.

I know this thread is almost 10 years old, but I lost my wedding ring in dale hollow lake in Tennessee in about 8 feet of water. Taking a bath with ivory soap and the ring just flew off. Waited until morning, then got up on top of the houseboat and there it was. Just needed calm, like glass water to see it.

Lost mine at the dump. Does that count? I was slinging refuse out of a utility trailer and it went flying. Searched for hours. Never replaced it. That was about 10 years ago. Marriage survived.

Bought my wife one of those fishing magnets for something to do while we are anchored. Supposed to lift 200lbs. Haven't tried it yet but curious as to what she might find.

Never lost a ring but 25 years ago after buying our first boat and spending our first three nights on her I decided to shake out the comforter in the V berth. I shoved it thru the forward hatch and shook it out. I heard a kerplunk and a feeling of dread came over me. I yelled to my wife, "Honey where is your Cartier
tank watch"? "On the bed honey, why?" "Oh, just wondering. I dropped my shorts and dove in head first buck ass naked and hand to god, came to the surface with the watch! It was pure luck as the water is brackish and with a mask you might be able to see 1 foot in front of you at best at about eight feet in depth.
I wish that was the only thing I ever had go over the side but in 25 years I've lost count of all the things the water has claimed. Luckily everything was replaceable.
Carpe Diem

Lost a wedding ring. Now I primarily wear a QALO one on the boat.

Rarely wear my wedding ring because of the kind of stuff some of you guys described.
She’s fine with it.

From day one I only wear mine on special occasions, our anniversary for sure, and it still looks like new after 46 years. Unfortunately my wife still thinks I must be up to no good.
