Our swim ladder gave out this week and need to replace it but not sure how to gain access for the replacement. Also would like to add a grab rail to the top of the mounted ladder for ease of boarding but it cant be so high that the ladder trap door won't close. Any infor for the install process and a good STURDY ladder???? thanks folks.

The 420 must be different from the 44. Mine is very simple to unbolt and remove. I removed mine a while back to clean it good. I added this to aid getting out of the water and it has been the perfect addition:

How does that slot aid in getting out of the water?? To me it appears that it will help to open the door. Unless you keep the door closed while the ladder is extended which then I could understand. Problem is forgetting that the ladder is extended since the door is closed.

Also seems as though the back bolts are inside the swim-step - how would one access there?

We keep the door closed with the ladder in or out. The slot is a great hand hold.

Looks like 2 screws on each side and she is out unless it is through bolted and then all bets off...

ok I see, so we need to replace just the latter part and not the section that is bolted to the fiberglass. I'll call SeaRay for a replacement part tomorrow. Do you happen to have a part # or will Sea Ray require out Hull ID#?

1473750 is my part number. If you haven’t you should download your parts manual from the sea ray website. I have it saved as an iBook accessible at any time.

Your hull ID may beneficial.

I have tried calling 1-800-sr-boats for the ladder but the say to email, which I’ve done over a week ago but no reply. Do you or anyone else have a good number for ordering parts? I’m getting close to my next trip to the island and I’d like to have it replaced by then.
