hi guys, just wondering, this might be a dumb question but was wondering if anyone has ever hooked up there blowers to a timer or maybe a thermostat . Thanks Tony

Something like this would likely not be allowed by USCG guidelines. A timer or temperature dependent circuit could interfere with the proper operation of a bilge blower.

I would think you could have a parallel circuit that turned them on/off at a certain temperature or time, but the manual circuit would still have to work.

Just curious. For what purpose?

Just wondering if it would help with the heat sink, maybe help extend the life of the battery,or anything else in the bilge

I run my blowers from before start up until after shut down, wont hurt anything and if the blowers wear out a little faster, they are cheap and easy to replace.

+1 on SCORPIO - also added inline fuses so that if one was to overheat/crap out and blow fuse, it wouldn't take out power to both.

I agree with this. Leave them running whenever the engines are running. The engine room will be a little cooler and the engines will run a little more efficiently with the cooler intake air.

Hey guys, reason I originally posted this because I backed the boat into the slip, was in a rush had to leave quickly though it would be good if there was some way I could leave the blowers running a little while to alleviate any heat sink

Me too!

I run mine prior to start up and any time I'm cruising at no wake speed. But they are so freaking noisy! Does anyone have ones they like that are really quiet without spending $250 a piece (I have 2)?

$250 a piece? Holy smokes....the Atwood "quiet" blowers are $32 a piece on Amazon, delivered. Worth a shot for barely more money than a case of beer!

The Atwood inline blowers are not rated for continuous use. And they are ridiculously loud. I replaced mine with the squirrel cage type blowers from Jabsco. They are so quiet I can't even tell when they are running.

There are no SR factory installed blowers that are continuous duty rated (sans L-class boats) so first would be to upgrade the blowers to the Jabsco squirrel cage continuous duty blowers. Then simply install an adjustable time delay relay (Hella P/N 996152131 for example) with the helm blower on/off switch. It is important to install the relay at the switch and not the blower relay or Fire Boy circuitry. In this manner should you have a fire in the engine room the Fire Boy can still terminate the blowers. There should be no regulatory issues if installed in this manner.

Is the Jabsco blower a simple swap with the existing Sea Ray unit?
