420 DA Thread

Hey everyone! Been missing you guys!

The FL weather down here is magical, but I miss being on NeverLand! Anyway...I'm sure the admin's will find this and take it down, but we're still trying desperately to sell our 44 'Dancer. Please pass this along.

We're still trying to find ways to bring her down and make it work (e.g. chartering, AirBnB, whatever!). I just can't stand the fact she's still on the hard from last November just wondering where her family is. Please help. She's an excellent boat and I'm sure she will take care of her next owner just like she did me.

I've got plenty of records and notes and cost sheets!

Thanks!

I had the props scanned last week. The props are marked 22x25 but when they were scanned they were closer to 22x24 so he made them a perfect 24P. My top end is 2650 rpm this hasn't changed but my cruise speed at 2,150rpm used to give me 27mph now I am a solid 25mph
Would you change anything?, is anyone else running 22x24?

I appreciate the suggestion above. I haven't blown the line from the unit discharge directly from the unit itself like you noted. What I have been doing is what Rob suggested. I take each line off the manifold in the bilge, I fashioned a 5/8" to hose connector attached to a garden hose through about 4 feet of clear tubing. It clears the lines and all of my lines are great until I get to the forward one. I hit the hose and watch all kinds of brown silt crap blow out, but it stayed "restricted" a bit. So... I ran a small 4' cable with a soft plastic edge in the out hole, got a little algae out, it got better but not great. Then I ran Barnacle Buster both ways, waiting a few hours to work from the hose off the manifold. That cleared it up but a week later, my flow in the fwd thru hull becomes crap again so I blow it from the manifold and brown silt comes out making it better. I think this loop I have is collecting crap. Just a best guess so I was wondering whose 420 had this loop thing. This is the greatest forum. Thanks to all.

I would redo the line with out the loop. I see no need for it … Cut it back at the unit . try and catch the water that comes out it will go righto the bilge where bow thruster is .

Great guidance and thanks. Will do.

I honestly haven't a clue why u would have a loop. All it will do is make sediment collect by restricting flow .. ( which is already compromised by the distance from the pump.) IDk how handy u are but u can install PVC ball valves to adj flow to each unit .. Then u can close all but one and use the pump to flush the system. Just a thought AFTER u remove the loop .

Not that handy but great advice! Thanks

Does anyone know if it matters which A/C hose is connected to which manifold inlet line from the pump to this manifold? Since you can't be over 3' tall and then you need 6" fingers like Gumby to take these on and off, I am trying to get better flow (after taking the loop out of fwd A/C discharge) in the fwd cabin but I don't want to change until I know it matters. Can't find guidance in the manual (usual!). I am thinking that I need to swap the Fwd with the cockpit only because it looks bigger and water goes the path of least resistance. Does anyone know? (see pic). Thanks!

IT does not matter. I moved the manifold to the stern. Right behind the pump. Much easier to service as I blow my lines out 2x a month. Ill see if I have aa pic .

I just noticed urs in all the way to port … WTF how do u even get to it . My manifold was mid right between the two motors .. And that was a pain in the ass!!!!

That's the point. It is VERY hard to get to. Tucked in the port side next to the main buss. Sea Ray mastery! Freaking stupid. My pump is mounted about 5" away from this manifold. My manifold "looks" like the cockpit outflow manifold section to this line is larger but the out line is still 5/8" here. That's why I posted. If it was easy I would have just done it (after my hands heal from trying it yesterday :).

U can move any of the ac outlets around just not the main from the pump.

I forgot the pump was mounted to the firewall. YEa I moved it .. The noise transferred into the aft cabin way too much ! Easy ting to do just time consuming
