Advice pls

i was reading your reply and saw that you have a 1997 sundancer with 454's. I am considering that boat and a 1998 with twin 5.7 L. I am a newbie and will be using the boat initially to cruise the Chesapeake Bay, but in 2021 U plan to go down the ICE to Florida and possibly over to the Bahamas.
i would greatly appreciate your input,as an owner of a boat that I am considering, as to which size engine is ,in your opinion, the better choice. I'm not interested in getting to my destination fast. Fuel efficiency is a consideration and I am trying to determine if the smaller engines pushing the same weight boat will end up burning more GPH .
JP,

We also have the 97 330 with twin 7.4L MPI engines. We also like to cruise between 2800 and 3000 RPM which decreases our burn rate to about 25-27 GPH and it is a comfortable ride and still gives us good maneuverability on the water. I just cannot imagine what life on the water would be with a boat this heavy and smaller engines!

Again, for us (me and The Better 9/10ths), it is all about the journey and not how fast you get there! Good luck in your search and let us know where you land with your decision! :)

Hi All, still doing due diligence. Thanks to everyone. Wife is second guessing getting a boat now. Her thoughts are the yearly maintenance on a retirement budget. Insurance costs, and how big a boat we need to live on and how much time I will need to gain enough experience for the 2 of us. Lost of questions with no answers. So working through them and taking another look at what we want, need, afford and lifestyle.

Again thanks to everyone.
