410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Guys on the wipers I had a hard time finding 26" refill blades from AM equip. Not sure if that is the OEM size, but that is what was on my boat. After searching all over I found new metal arms with the blades at my local O'reilly auto parts in stock. I think they were $15 each.View attachment 73817
Not sure of the size and kind I got but I was able to find some that worked at O'reilly's also.

Thank you that is very helpful!! I'm assuming the only acceptable way to repair this is to run a new wire, so can you tell me where that wire goes? I noticed mine while working on my generator and didn't have a chance to follow the wire. Mine is disconnected at the starboard rudder.

I'm not sure I understand. We don't have the same vessel so I'm not sure I can help. On mine, I noticed the terminal still attached to the corner post of the rudder mount and the wire was there, but broke off at the terminal. So it was easy to simply remove and match the wire. It was about a 16" length and attached to a bolt where another rudder bonding connection was located. Pretty easy...Esp. if the wire is still there.

That helps. I was trying to get a rough idea of the length of wire ( 2’ or 20’). Next time I’m there I will remove and make up a new wire. BTW Although not the same vessel I had the exact same failure

I got the WT6-24 blades last year but I think you can fit the WT6-26 to get more coverage. Not at the boat now, but I remember thinking that I could have gotten wider blades when I was installing the 24” blades.

Not so sure the ones from the auto store are stainless steel construction. Did you call AM Equipment? Their Web site is not the best. I replaced the entire wiper system on my 400DA and AM had everything.... I even added a windshield washer system from AM.

This is a silly question....but how often do you guys use your wipers? In 5 years of owning a Sea Ray the only times my wipers have been activated is when I accidentally hit the switches. No joke :)

TT- I did call AM and they were very helpful but did not have 26" refills or arms which is what I was replacing. The original system came from Diesel Equipment in NC, according to Sea Ray and I spoke to them as well. The OEM arm size was 24" and why I was confused. Either way the 26" aftermarket ones fit well, look great and I got the right nut and cone spline from Diesel Equipment to keep one from slipping. I am in freshwater so not too concerned about stainless versus powder coated steel. I rarely use mine but hate things that don't work on a boat. Rain X is my friend.

All I needed was the blades. Now that you posted AM info I'm thinking of replacing my arms with new ones just for the newness and looks.

Everytime I get caught in the rain or spray from the waves. Few times a season.

Anytime Imget salt spray on the windshield which happens quite a bit.

I bought the coated or painted arms and after 1-1/2 years, I am getting rust stains under the arms. Not sure the cost difference, but stainless makes for one less job to do.

I replaced all of my interior and cockpit lights with LED bulbs 2 years ago. I also swapped the interior cockpit lights to blue to preserve night vision. No adapters or swapping of fixtures. Good move, low volts, cool and bright. I got mine on the internet. You won't be sorry.

I replaced all my lights in 2017. There's a post somewhere on here about it. I didn't have to change 1 fixture, only the bulbs. I got them all off EBay. Can't remember exact places I got them, plus some of mine were green. These are the cheap china bulbs and I figured for the price I would try them. So far I have not had one problem with them except that 2 that I put in the cabin were dimmer than all the other ones. For the Nav lights I bought better ones from Superbright on EBay. They are also the festoon bulbs but I think the Red and Green are 37mm and the stern is a 42mm. Try the links below to get you in the vicinity and pick from there. I'll try to post some pics of mine if I can find some.

Arch and Cockpit were similar to these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/20x-Super-...e0AAOSw6DtYV4eN:sc:USPSFirstClass!48239!US!-1
Cabin were similar to these:https://www.ebay.com/itm/G4-LED-Bul...562255?hash=item288277830f:g:ovkAAOSwhWpdSGJx
Engine Room was similar to these:https://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Cool-W...WQAAOSw69tcJw-6:sc:USPSFirstClass!48239!US!-1

Led bulbs? Been reading so many posts thought I would just ask- anyone on the 400 da replaced bulbs to switch from all the halogen to led or did you have to change fixtures? Any link to what was used would be greatly appreciated. I want to start with the arch and cockpit and then all lighting in the cabin.

I'm a bit concerned that I may have experienced the dreaded hot water tank death. While my wife and I were relaxing after a nice cruise, I heard the water pump start cycling periodically. While I couldn't get back to the hot water tank because the engines were still hot, I did see a trickle of water coming out of the connection on the inboard side of the tank. Once I get the chance, I'll climb down there and inspect it. Hopefully it's just a failed fitting or something easily repairable/replaceable. But if my fears are confirmed and we've got a bad hot water tank, what have other forum members done to either bypass it or replace it? If a replacement requires removing the starboard engine, then I'll just bypass it and install an inline heater. But I'd love to hear some advice.

I guess nothing would shock me with our boats but.....I'd be surprised if you couldn't get that heater out without pulling a motor??? With gas engines I believe exhaust would be the only thing needing to be removed. I know you've got a lot less room but still....

If the new heater is smaller you could always cut the existing heater in half whilst in the engine room to avoid some of the pain of removal. I'd imagine they aren't terribly stout units.

Good luck!

I docked next to a diesel 400 at Vermilion last year. He had just replaced his WH, so I mentioned that I heard it was impossible to get it past the engine in 1 piece. He looked at me like I was crazy. He said it wasn't fun, but he did it.

Its a little tricky to replace to the hot water heater. First is to remove the exhaust tube from the stb engine. Remove the outter cover from the old hot water heater and compress the box (like taking a cardboard box and remove the tape to flatten the box). This will leave the cylindrical tank...remove the insulation and the tank will fit thru the exhaust tube path along with the outer cover. New install follows the same path. Not a fun project but don't need to pull the motor.
