Does anyone like showering in their wet head?

He basically installed a shower curtain to keep the water contained. Let's face it, showering on a small boat isn't exactly luxury.

When we had the 280 the shower was used maybe twice and we made sure any marinas we visited had showers. This spring we moved to a larger boat with an enclosed shower and it has been used just about every weekend. Drying off in the does require some contortions, but it’s doable. That said, the head has two doors, one that opens to the salon and the other that opens to the master cabin. So we can open the door and step Into the master to dry off.

One trick we have learned about showing on a small boat is to plan ahead. Already mentioned the importance of turning the A/C way down so the cabin is cold. Then the towel goes on the floor just outside the door to the head. Our light in the head is a heat lamp so that turned on to warm up the shower. There is a powerful exhaust fan next to the toilet that can be on or off based on preference. For showering, we just step into the shower, adjust the water temp to a nice steamy temp and shower away. For drying off, open the door a crack and pick up the towel, turn the fan on to exhaust the steam and open the door to crisp cool air when done. Fresh clothes are laying on the table in the salon to change into. Towels go on the chair on the rear deck and sun dry in 30 minutes. We keep a supply of Bounty paper towels handy to dry the floor and and walls around the toilet. Leave the fan on to exhaust the humidity for about 30 minutes. The head looks spotless and smells good all the time because it is cleaned daily in about 5 minutes. Our boat never has that "boat smell" which is because it has a wet head.

I moved up last year from a 260 DA that had a very small wet head and never used the shower to a 290 DA where I can fit, close the door and actually stand up. I just started to use the shower this year and it's a total game changer. Whether at the dock or on the hook...... using the shower has made my boating experience that much better. I do a quick wipe down with a microfiber and then let the AC do the rest.

Going from small to combo head / shower to one with fill standing room and separate compartments has been huge for us.

Not me....I've been on other vessels with wet heads and it's not terrible, but nothing like the experience on the 400DA...

I'm spoiled, the master head has a very roomy shower with a bench. But, the best is shutting off the lights, opening the hatch above the shower, and watching the stars...

Brad, does yours have the semi circular plexi-glass door?
Hi Henry,

Mine has a plexi door but it's a straight bi-fold type. Hinges inward to open and folds back against the shower wall. A vinyl strap with snap holds it open. When closed it stays that way with friction fit. There is NO gap in the center so it's water-tight (for showering, anyway).

My experience with a wet head in a previous 280DA and was not very manageable with young children. The carpet was always wet outside even with the curtain drawn. Kids don't pay attention to water spray, and if you need to wash them yourselves....just a disaster. We moved up to the 40 Sedan, and it is a night and day difference. My setup is very similar to b_arrington (the 400DB has 2). Dedicated shower with a seat that will fit 2 people!

I love showering on my 340SDA and we have plenty of room. Even the towels we hang on the far side will stay dry if you take a little care. The part I don't love is the clean up. To make this easier we use a water blade to squeegee the walls and a sham wow towel to finish off. At least our head stays very clean.

Generally we group our showers at the end of the day so there is only one wipe down. Otherwise a rinse of on the transom during the day is sufficient. It's also preferred to do this if we have been on the beach with sand. I don't like getting sand into the shower or the sump pump.

Same for us in our 330DA; a squeegee and a chamois do the trick.

In our previous boat a 300 Weekender we showered on board but there were a few marinas we stayed at that had large couple showers and the wife & I enjoyed the showering experience together... ;)

Back in mid July, we were up at Kellys Island and it got up to about 92 degrees and I needed a shower.
Gathered up the kit, towel, change of clothes and headed to the shower house where it was about 115 degrees and 99% humidity. Turned right around, went back to the boat and used the wet head for the first time - not a problem. Sorry I waited so long to try it out. Just got back from a weekend at Geneva state park - used it three times.
As someone mentioned in a prior post, just pre-plan and have everything laid out.

What bothered me about the wet head in the 330DA was the curtain that covered the door. It was easy to dry off the walls, wipe the counter and floor etc., but that curtain was a PITA. I preferred just wearing a bathing suit and using the transom shower.
Please walk me through how to turn on and off the

Hello. I am new to a 2008 330DA and I cant figure out how to turn on the shower in the head... the sink faucet works fine. I have looked through all the online manuals but no luck.
Please walk me through the steps to turn on and off the shower in the head... I am sure I missed something when the dealer was explaining how to operate the shower, thank you!

Maybe the sink faucet simply pulls out of its stand? And it is the shower? That's how mine works.:)

The shower wand on both the 280 and Sabre has a shut off button on it. You may have one that’s stuck. Also don’t discount the possibility your shower outlet is clogged. Boats seem to be more prevalent to having clogs in faucet screens.

Acrylic clam shell in my wet head works great keeping the head dry. I use a squeegee on the clam shell when done. After drying off I squeegee the floor. I leave the vent fan on for about 20-30 minutes. High and dry. I am hoping my next boat will be large enough to have a separate shower stall. I use the shower every day in the summer. Special warning: make sure your sump is kept cleaned

Also use liquid soap not bar soap. Bar soap will gum up your sump and hoses.
