Hi All,

Need your help. Boat is a '99 450 EB with a Weste 10 BTD with the Searay one button start module. Genset has 2000 hrs on it and has been good. Today, when I went to start it, I accidently "double-pushed" the button and now it won't crank or start.

I've checked for voltage, all seems good. I disconnected the SR system and tried to start it with the normal 3 buttons on the genset, nothing. I've replace the start and preheat relays, nothing. I unplugged all the safeties (oil, water, temp). Nothing. Sometimes it will try to start (fuel pump kicks on a fuel solenoid pulls open), but when I hit the start switch, all dies.

It seems like there is a short some where, some relay has stuck, etc. I do not have easy access to the starter or the solenoid on the starter. Could it be there? Other ideas?

I have the schematic and have reviewed all (I think). The main 20 amp breaker is good. Any other breakers/fuses I'm missing?

Thanks for any/all comments!

Larry

He says he checked the voltage and it will snatch open the fuel supply solenoid so I'm doubting the bad battery idea.

I think that generator has a lower amp fuse holder on the side or maybe the back of the control box.....yours is a 10.0 BTD; mine is an 8.0 BTD and the fuse is a screw in fuse holder on the front of the panel right below the pre-heat and start switch. When starting, the circuitry eliminates the low oil pressure switch and the over heat switch to allow the engine to crank. With that fuse blown, the low oil pressure switch is still in the circuit but doesn't see oil pressure since the engine isn't running, so it won't allow the engine to start.

Thanks Frank, but it looks like BB was correct. There is no fuse as you described. I continued troubleshooting with no luck. By my (soon to be Ex) voltmeter, I had 12.5 v, but as last ditch effort, I took it to Nappa to test it. It had 9 volts when I got there and crashed when load tested. This batt was only 1 1/2 yrs old. The last genset batt I had lasted 5 1/2 year. So either my "double push" caused the batt to fail or I am incredably unlucky. Another example of do the easy stuff first.

Thanks for your quick response and help! I do appreciate it.
