Hi guys.

I have just downsized from a 2001 410 EC to a 2003 225 WE after my children have left home, and I absolutely love it! Makes small day-trips so much easier even I miss all features and space that was in the 410 EC. One thing I need to fix in the 225 is the sliding seat on passengers side. The swivel handle has broken, but I managed to get the broken part out of the treads without any damage. The handle looks like the one in the link below, but is smaller and thinner. Anyone knows where i can find a new one and the dimensions on the treads? Here in Norway we use the metric system, and by measuring the bolt it seems to be very close to 8.00 mm in diameter. Is this a 5/16" bolt, and should I look for UNC or UNF treads?

All help will be highly appreciated!

What type of passenger seat do you have? There were two options available. If it's the back-to-back style, there are two of those locking handles used. Using one to lock the seat in place is plenty - you really don't need to use both.

Also... you used the word "swivel". That term generally indicates that the seat swivels around. That was not one of the options for that boat. Does your boat have something different - maybe modified by a previous owner? Or perhaps the European-built version has something different. Can you clarify? Picture?

But, yes, it's a 5/16" course thread... which is 5/16-18 thread size.

Hi and thanks for feedback. I "stole" the word Swivel from the Garelick link, but understand that I don't have any swivel in my boat. I have the back-to-back arrangement with two locking handles as you describe. I have tried to use the boat with just one of the handles in place, but I don't think this is the best as a permanent solution.

Do you happen to know where I can get a new handle ?

I called a Garelick and left a message about a very similar issue on my captains seat. He sent me the build sheets on my seat and I was able to buy the part that broke. I was very fortunate it was still in production. They were so easy to deal with and extremely helpful

I'm not sure what you have access to there in Norway, but I made one many years ago. A 5/16-18 carriage bolt, a plastic handle (like what is used for a folding lawnmower handle) and a few nuts. I got everything from a local hardware store and probably spent all of $6 or $7.

FYI, you really can just use one of those handles. It holds WAY more than what is needed. In all of the back-to-back seats I have ever owned, I have NEVER used both handles. And you only need to snug it down - it does NOT need to be really tight. But, hey, that's your call.

Thanks both! I've ordered some handles from Amazone, and should have them late next week. Will update the tread when I have tried them in the boat, and if they don't fit I'll give Garelick a call.
