2006 290 SD, Clarion. Stereo works perfect while engines are running. after we are anchored for approx 30 minutes the 4 cockpit speakers slowly fade out to 0 volume. Cabin speakers working fine. Tested 3 batteries @ 12.6v, 11.4v & 11.5v.

Time for Fusion & JL upgrade ?

Looks like the cockpit is on an amp separate from the head unit, and I would guess that has low voltage protection that turns off at 11.5V. From the parts list, the cabin appears to be run from a separate (and different) amp that may not have the same low voltage protection.

I believe battery voltage in the 11s is a "fully" discharged battery, and is probably your issue.

Thank you, I feel its a low voltage issue as well. I will use a commercial battery tester to isolate the issue. Batteries are 11 months old.

Three Interstate Marine 11 months old
In all seriousness, after 30 minutes of play, a battery should not have dropped to 11.5V. That would be one heck of a bangin system to draw it down.

Are the two batteries at 11.4 and 11.5 wired in parallel? Is this the house bank? Are they also the cranking bank for one engine? If so, theres a charging issue.

Follow-up - Tested the three Interstate 27M-XHD and two of the 11 month old batteries failed. Interstate is replacing both under warranty (only 12mo warranty) think I will upgrade one to a dual purpose battery to run accessories, Interstate 34M-AGM with a 36mo warranty.
Thank you

Trying to remember......something about a fusible link from the engines responsible for the current charging the batteries.... my old azz memory isn’t working well these days. That may account for the reduced voltage. I would also suspect loose connection on the battery post

New batteries rarely "fail" without a root cause. Id keep digging before you are back doing this again in a couple months, or after next trip out.

If you go with AGM, make sure all of them are AGM and the battery charger is set for the proper battery type or you will have issues. Nice boat by the way...
