Hi
I have a new to me 2000 380 AC
The forward head stopped working yesterday
I went to the boat a few days ago and heard the forward macerator continually running but the toilet seemed to function properly
I shut the forward head breaker off and the noise stopped but everytime I put the breaker on the macerator continued to make noise like a float switch was stuck
Now the toilet will not flush but the macerator is still.making noise
Any ideas has anyone replaced one
Any known good Sea Ray repair guys south of Boston?

Thanks in advance
Dale

What you are hearing is the Vacuum pump not the macerator. Might be bad duck valves or a clog in the line. Only way to find out is dig in. First, I would learn how the system works and where all the parts are located.

You should have a separate "discharge pump" switch in your main breaker/switch panel. You should also have a "head" switch. They are 2 different systems! Identify which switch turns off the noise your are hearing and go from there. You definitely need to go through your owners manual and learn how each system works or find a dock mate that is familiar with SeaRay

No discharge breaker
She was a lake boat
Forward head breaker stops the noise
There is also an odor now if I attempt to flush
I brought the manual home I plan on digging in before I go back to the boat

Based on your descriptions in posts 1 and 4 it sounds like clogged duck bills. I hope you holding tank isn't overfilled. Ha sit been pumped out?

As others have said, it is the vacuum pump you hear running. How long have you let it run? It has to build pressure to suck the contents from the head. So, it needs a little time. 2nd, does the bowl hold water? If it doesn't, there is your leak, and why the pump continues to run trying to build pressure. If the bowl DOES hold water, it can be the duck bills are clogged, or the toilet base is leaking air and preventing the pressure building.

The macerator is what would chew up the solids if you were pumping overboard. Chances are you are unable to do that, and the seacock is probably zip tied closed unless someone foolishly removed it. It's illegal to do so inland.

When discussing VacuFlush systems I constantly here the term "building pressure". So as not to confuse those that are not familiar with the system please refer to "building vacuum" instead. VacuFlush is a "vacuum" system.
