last week i had lost power in two of my outlets. came back too my gfi that is next too the sink. I changed it out with a new one,. was working for another 4 days then lost power again. replaced it and now no power is going thru it. I have pwr to it. My 2 green grounds on top, incoming white line top right, out going to fwd outlet bttm right, two blacks on left. Incoming top left and outgoing bttm left. Does any one know if this is the right way? I didn't change nothing.

Typically when a GFCI trips it's indicating an issue down-stream. Faulty device plugged in, faulty cord, incorrectly wired outlet etc.. The outlet senses current on both the hot & the neutral. As long as the 2 current values are equal life is good. Should one conductor have a leak to ground it may draw slightly higher amperage, causing the internal module to trip. Doesn't take much. 0.005 A ( 5 milli-amps) for human protection & up to 30 mA for equipment.
Another thing to verify is your polarity on the boat. 120V coming into the outlet should be 120V from Hot to Neutral & 120V from Hot to ground. 120V from Neutral to ground (should be zero) indicates a problem.
The replacement outlet you used may also be a little different if not the same brand. Grounds first & are usually under a common tab. Incoming Hot & Neutral should be clearly indicated as are the outgoing pair. With the pairs a general rule of thumb is the brass or dark screws secure the Hot or dark conductor & the silver screws secure the white neutral.

Can’t go by top and bottom, every manufacturer could make it different. Power in should be connected to the “line” and the power out connected to “load”

Hello boaters, thank you all for the tips. I put the new one in , went back too the old 15a outlet, now works. i had a 20a outlet. Thank you for all that responded.

That really shouldn't of changed much with it working. It could be a code violation depending on what breaker and wire size is used. But I am betting it wasn't connected properly

Either way, glad it's fixed!
