I have a 2007 290 DA and I’m trying to change the fart filter. I cannot figure out how to loosen the strap that holds it in place. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I can't recall exactly, i'm sure it's done by hand... no tools required.

Maybe a flap is raised kinda like a belt buckle, that releases the strap.

Confused. When I read the title for the thread, I thought the reference was to a device a person would wear. :)

Mine is a plastic/hard rubber clip which attaches on either side. I can’t get the strap to move and the ends don’t open. I don’t want to muscle it too much. It looks like it pins into the top of the holding tank.

Got it changed. Had to pull pretty hard on the tab to get the strap loosened. I’m guessing the previous owner didn’t change the filter annually.

I have never changed mine annually. If the tank never gets full enough to overflow into the hose/filter, to my knowledge, it never goes bad. I use Norflex Digester and changed the filter 2 years ago and see no need now to change it. No odor whatsoever.

Does this mean that the rest of you need to wear diapers?
With a 2 year old and 5 year old as a single parent we generally are day boaters this year and the odd time we are overnight we access shore facilities.Thinking I will install a manual flush head and a tank over the off season this year

We never let the tank get very full either, but this is our first season with this boat and I’m trying to get to as a clean a slate as I can from a maintenance perspective. This way I know when everything replaced.
