I have a 2000 340 DA that we really like but it's 19 years old..... It may be time for a change due to age and some recent issues.

I am considering buying a '07 or '08 340 DA or should I look at the newer model of the '08 or '09 350 DA?

Unfortunately, that age range is in the neighborhood of my price range. Cant afford anything newer

Would appreciate your opinions/thoughts/suggestions

What's wrong with 19 years old? You're only gaining 7-8 years, still used. Sometimes the devil you know is a better deal.

The 2003.5 - 2008 340SDA is the equivalent of the new 370DA. It is a bigger boat than the new 350DA. The older style 2000 340DA is also a great boat and you will get a lot of boat for your money.

Golfman. You have a good point and I have thought about tha as well.

Kevin C? Has the gas consumption of the 8.1 inboards? My 7.4L with Bravos 3's burns about 25gph

I looked at a 08 350 and imo thought it was one of SR's best layouts. Swivel helm and passenger seats add a great deal of versatility. Sliding island berth was a neat feature. Liked the hard top and walk through windshield too. Not a huge fan of the rumble seat just because I like the storage space.12' beam and 37.6 length I believe. That being said the 03.5 to 07 340 is probably one of the best selling boats searay ever made. I would own one if the passenger seat swiveled. Chose the 320 for the port lounger.

GPH is variable based on RPM and other conditions like wind, tide, loading, etc. Generally speaking I am around 0.8mpg when cruising. I use 0.75mpg when estimating. Some rough numbers from memory: at 3400 rpm I am around 30gph combined cruising around 25-26 mph and at 3700rpm around 35gph at 28-29 mph. (These are not exact numbers). At WOT boat jumps out of the hole quickly and we're at 60+ gph.

At cocktail cruise speed we are closer to 2mpg burning about 2 gph each side and cruising about 8-10 mph.

They all burn a lot of fuel. Doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade - the newer 340 is a great model. The 350 is nice as well. The most modern of designs. The 340 of your era seems to be sized between a 320 and 340 of the next era. You could drop a lot of $$$$s in your current 340 and make it how you like it - instead of probably chasing down issues on a used boat you don't know.
