I need help locating my air horn compressor on my 2002 410 DA. The horns don't sound very strong and the compressor most likely needs lubrication.

Thx!

Never had to look at mine but I think its under the starboard locker in the forward cabin. All my documentation is on the boat but I am sure you will find its location in the "parts" section of the owners manual.

I am on my way to the boat this morning and will see what I can come up with. Have you looked at the horns (anchor locker) to ensure that the air hoses have not come off?

When you say it's not under or in the starboard locker, did you tear it apart? On my 2000 you need to remove the shelves, clothing pole and back upper panel in the starboard locker in the forward stateroom. The air compressor is located in the space behind the panel.

I looked there last year and found nothing. I guess I'll have to tear everything apart again and take another look just to double check.

The compressor is on the stbd side behind the master locker. Have someone hit the horn button while you poke your head in the locker and you will hear it.

It is actually easier, and gives you better access, if you remove the TV in the master. It's right behind there.

Remove the two screws on the front corners of the baseplate and the tv should slide out (baseplate and all). FYI - removing the tv alone didn't get me adequate access to the air compressor. This may be a difference between the 2000 MY and the 2002 MY.

Try hanging a drop light with your head in the hole while someone hits the horn button. On my 2003 the compressor was right there.

Like I said, mine was buried deep behind the locker. Can you at least see the clear plastic air tube that should be run with wire bundle along the along the gunnel? By the way, it doesn't look like an air compressor, more like a small Coke can painted black. Find the tubing and trace it to the compressor, and do what Dom said to help narrow it down.

May be a dumb question but... Once I find the location how do the back panels come out?

Found it. Had to remove the 2 shelves and the back panel by the gunnel. What a pain.

Thanks everyone for the help.

@boater4life - I found my horn compressor behind the Master TV. You mentioned lubricating the compressor. Can you clarify where/how and with what type of lubricant I should use on the horn compressor?

Thanks!
