I'm looking to get my windows covered and was looking for some feedback from those that have these? Pros and Cons? The color and % sunblock that you chose? They both appear to be good products...
Thanks -

I went with 70% Phifertex. I like it, it helps tremendously as a heat shade, easily 20* more without. Privacy is ok.....if I were to do it again, I'd pick the 90% coverage. Material is durable and holds up.

Paul, who did yours? DoraMar did mine when I bought the boat 5 seasons ago but it doesn’t block as much sun as I’d like, which turns the galley into a very hot sun room when facing south.

Sailrite has some good resources on shade fabric selection.

Here's part of Sailrite's description of Soltis.
Soltis 86 is ideal for use as sun shades for boat and RV windshields, as well as screen protectors for your home or business. The great dimensional stability of this fabric means it keeps its shape so you won’t have to use as many snaps when creating your boat or RV sun shade — this also means you’ll drill fewer holes in your boat or RV’s surface for snap fastener installation. The extra wide width of this fabric means you can better cover large windshields without seams to disrupt your view.

Soltis 86 blocks 86 percent of solar radiation, while still allowing light to filter through, making it a highly effective sun shield without obstructing visibility. The fantastic light-filtering properties of Soltis 86 also make it a great choice for indoor and outdoor roller shades, shade sails, awnings for verandas, glass roof blinds and pergola canopies.

I would definitely recommend the 90%. I dont have any AC vents by the windshield and sitting in the forward bench of the dinette is still warm.

If you need somebody, talk with Jen (Gerards wife). She did mine before I picked up a walking foot machine. I'd ask my wife, but I can't get her to do my own boat!
