Flagpoles on boats ....

BG, I have a stainless shaft mounted on the top of the transom. There is a "formula" for the proper size of the flag and it's based on the size of the boat but for the life of me I don't recall what it is. Sorry I can't be more help.

I think it is 1” of flag length for every 1’ of boat length.

I have SS bow rail mount 16" x 24" US Yacht Ensign on the front and a standard 20" x 30" US flag on the back with a SS poll in the magnetic socket provided by Sea Ray.

Perhaps this will give you an idea....I saw this image and I used to run two pirate flags in the rod holders. But I used aluminum extendable mop handles that worked but were cheap and rusted.

This image shows running with them on the antennas, which looks nice but I have two concerns. One, breaking...and two, I thought you had to be careful with transmitting with things attached to an antenna. I thought it could generate enough heat to catch fire, no?

In any event I thought it's an interesting topic and figured there had to be a cool cheap way, perhaps you guys were using.

I use a teak pole in the starboard rod holder. Admiral moves it to port when we dock somewhere with a stern in starboard tie. a center transom mounted pole is in our way when using the cockpit canvas and loading and unloading the dinghy.
