The other day after flushing the toilet I noticed what looked like black particles in the water. I flushed a few more times til it cleared up. After that my water pressure pump would run about every 5 to 10 min to repressurize the system, and when i turn on the faucets the pressure instantly goes down and no black particles come from any of my faucets. Any idea where I should look?

Im assuming the black particles was a gasket failing. Any help is appreciated.

I dont think this is from the fresh water system at all, and some grime and mold in the toilet...way up high.

If it's not maintaining pressure, then there is a leak somewhere. If there are no faucet leaks, I would start at the pump and filter.

Could also be gunk in the water tank, especially if it has sat for a while and/or wasn't treated. As mentioned, check the filter... then remove and check/clean every faucet's aerator's. Flush and clean tank, if necessary.

I see this if we don't really scrub good under the upper lip of the inside of the toilet bowl...

If it is a seal then it’s the toilet bowl seal. You shouldn’t be using household cleaners in the heads or it will degrade those rubber seals.

This is pretty common down here in high heat/humidity country if you do dot use a chlorine based water purifier in your water tank. When you leave the boat with the head closed and the lid down filled with water it can become a dark stagnant mold farm. Open the lid, even if you must listen to your wife’s protestations, use the boat more or switch to a water purifier containing chlorine.

Was reading through the comments and developed a question. What toilet cleaner is recommended to prevent seal degradation and is there a recommended tank purifier chemical for the fresh water tank?

Lot's of opinions on what to use in freshwater tank. Personally I try to not let it sit for more than 2-3 weeks at a time. If longer, just empty and refill. Also, when I fill, I use a cap or two of bleach right into the tank. It is just enough to take care of any issues and you won't even smell it or taste if you use it for tooth brushing or? Have had no issues doing it this way for years.
