This is why I boat

I love this time of the year. I've surprisingly learned people here still look at Labor Day as the end of the boating season. Crazy, especially to a guy coming to N. Tx from CO. The boating has gotten amazing - nothing like literally having a 28,000 acre lake to yourself, maybe two or three other boats - and the wildlife that returns. And the weekend forecast.....80 Saturday, 77 Sunday with clear blue skies - bummer...

A different type of wildlife versus the "in season" wildlife...

All day with a lake to yourself always seems to end nicely...

I know your Tiara has a wide beam (what is is 13ft?) but this wide angle lens makes it look ridiculously YUGE.
Yes. 13 feet beam and it carries that all the way to the rear. There is a lot of space back there as well as comfortable seating for people on the L seat in the upper cockpit. All but two of the people in the pic were sitting in the upper cockpit area when we were at cruising speed. Having a couple of chairs in the lower cockpit provides the extra seating we need without taking up floor space with soft cover seating surfaces. This makes washing the boat easier as well. We just hose the dirt down the scuppers.

I really like Tiaras for their quality and wide beam. I like the company history as well. They’re on our short list along with Sea Ray when we do decide to go bigger. An upgrade for us would have to be a significant space upgrade, and to get that in Tiara would mean a significant amount of coin ..probably more than a similar sized Sea Ray DA of the same era. I also like the fact that Tiara’s have that cruiser/fishing boat crossover ..even a 40+ sovereign etc. I don’t really do any fishing from my 340 ..it’s just not designed for it IMO.

Most Tiara owners have owned Sea Rays at some point in their boating histories. We have owned three SRs and have gotren good use from them.

I love boating in the fall. A cool, foggy morning turns into a warm, sunny day. This was this morning in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

Looks like Willow Berm. I had lunch at Moore's on Saturday. (The usual horrid service and great food)

A few photos from our recent trip up to Desolation Sound. I bought a new camera for this trip (Nikon P1000 which has a 3000mm zoom!), and was able to get some nice wildlife photos:

Wow, nice pics Mike! My wife and I are considering a trip to Desolation this year, but some friends are saying to go a bit further and go to the Broughton's. Each year we go a bit further than the previous years - San Juans, then Gulf Islands, then Sunshine Coast and last year Princess Louisa. Have you been to the Broughton's as well?

Thanks! We have not been to the Broughtons but are considering that for next year. It’s pretty remote and I think our son will be at an age where he will enjoy it more (he’ll be 4). We’ve done DS the last two years and are ready to explore further. I hear it’s some spectacular scenery/wildlife up there. We actually haven’t done Princess Louisa yet either, but plan to do that soon. Maybe over 5 days this August. How did you like it?

One day we’ll do the inside passage all the way to Alaska, but that’s still a boat or two down the line. :)

Sunset cruise on the ICW. As the proverb goes you can’t get this time back with young kids.

We were blown away by the area. We spent a couple nights in Egmont and hiked to the rapids, that was really amazing, if you do it, make sure you time it to be at the rapids at full flood or ebb, as that's when the water is really moving. It's about an hour hike from the marinas to the rapids.

After Egmont we went up Jervis inlet to Malibu rapids and back in to Chatterbox falls. We were fortunate to get space on the dock there since there was a big group of sailboaters that had moved in, but it's a pretty large dock. We spent 2 nights back in there, kayaking, hiking, etc. I think you could easily spend 3-4 nights up there, it was so beautiful and the falls were amazing. I will definitely go back - hopefully they don't sell it to a private party (it's being considered), and the province can take it over.
