whats up in iran fellow boaters ?

Usually I try to stay out of these political debates primarily because one person's political opinion is unlikely to change that of another and it frequently ends in an argument. But sometimes I can't hold it in. So here goes.

For about 40 years, this radical government of Ayatollahs has been a thorn in the side of many countries in the middle east and around the world. From the time they took 52 American hostages in 1979 and until this very day, they sponsor terrorism throughout the region and the world. They feel they can attack cargo ships without consequence that are traversing in international waters. I have no quarrel with the majority of Iranian people. I have met several friends over the years that were from Iran whom were lovely people. My quarrel is with their radical government. My friends left their home country because of this ideology. One of Americas biggest mistakes was not taking this government out when the opportunity was there. Jimmy Carter has gone down in American history as being one of the worst leaders ever. He is a good human being but a horrible leader. We have sat by ever since and watched this rogue nation build its military and pursue its nuclear ambition. They frequently flaunt UN resolutions. But then again, why should they do anything to conform with the rest of the world. They have faced few repercussions. Yes, the US and other nations have placed sanctions on their government only to have some of these nations continue to trade with them through the back door. France and other nations are known to talk tough, only to fail to practice what they preach. If Iran is allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, we are all in trouble. I believe without a doubt, they will at the very least attack Israel with these weapons. After all, they have publicly declared on more than one occasion, that their mission is to destroy Israel. We need a leader who is not going to put up with the crap of that demonized government. I do not advocate invading that nation with our troops or attacking innocent citizens, but I do advocate eliminating that government by any other means necessary.

Many of you remember when Muammar Gadafi the dictator of Libya was pulling much of the same crap. He ordered the bombing of a Pan Am plane and a nightclub full of innocent people along with other terroristic acts. Ronald Regan dropped a bomb right on his palace and with other strategic locations. We didn't too hear much from him after that. In fact we would not have heard anything from him again if not for the Italian Prime Minister tipping Gadafi off to leave his palace shortly before the bombing.

My point is as history has shown, the Iranian government is not going to change for the better. They will grow more dangerous. What revenue they do generate goes first to terrorism and the military. Many of their citizens are very poor. I believe as I said earlier, the government of Iran must be eliminated. I know my opinion is probably not shared by the majority, but I would target every palace, every military and government installation, every radical leader and reduce them to rubble. I would wait no longer. This needs to be accomplished before they can produce a fully functional nuclear system.

Off of soap box now.

One of the issues with brutal regimes such as Iran and North Korea, is that they really don't care what happens to their people. For example, sanctions? No problem, the leadership has theirs so if a few pesky people have to starve, no biggie. Incoming missiles? hey. no problem. the leadership, safe in their hidden bunkers, have nothing to worry about.

Before we gloat about destroying their economy we should keep in mind that as long as the leadership has fresh sheets, and plenty of food, they could care less. Their people are simply sacrifices to the warped ideology.

Sanctions are like chemotherapy. It may the job done, but only after it destroys a large part of the organism. Until it gets so bad that the people rise up against their leadership, nothing will change.

What is needed is precise surgery to excise the tumor.

Probably true but easier said than done. As soon as one civilian is killed in the process (and the Iranians would make that claim whether true or not) the liberals would crucify Trump. I'm sure there are those around Trump that would like to start a large military conflict but it seems like Trump would rather take a more precise and calculated approach. It would be great if it could be done with our allies involvement to spread the blame/credit around after the fact.

europe and usa should in future work even closer together in my opinion . only usa has the military capability to protect the free world in a serious scenario if any other option fail .

the european union - you have a point here - should support and honor this security of american military power in financial terms more .

if the current president can only talk or more the future will say .

is cnn reporting 'fake news' ?

Well, it seems like you watch a fair amount of CNN to keep informed, correct? I think I asked if you even get Fox News, but you didn't comment...

In your opinion, do you think CNN commentators like Trump? Have you ever heard on piece of positive news regarding him on the channel? Do you realize that most of what they "report" are actually panels of selected individuals to push their perspective and narrative?

Why would you think you are getting unbiased reporting if there isn't anything positive said about the man?

I'm not suggesting he doesn't have a myriad of faults. But, consider the source if you want objectivity....Further, think outside the box...Who would gain from divisiveness inside the US?...Who gains from fractionalizing the relationship between the US and Europe?

There is a lot more at play here than Trumps personality....He's not always wrong.

Actually he is right most of the time. But yeah, he's kind of cross between a bull in a china shop and that crazy aunt you keep in the basement. :)

Congrats, for your excellent choice of words and boats
I'm pretty sure it was your home I passed by on the intracoastal this winter while I was cruising on the little BR. Right on the corner just in a canal. Beautiful home and of course boat! You don't see many 450 EB's so yours caught my eye.

of course i know different media channels support different parties and try ro build an opinion. thats the reason i asked you directly instead of reading trump loving fox or trump critical cnn .

it appears fox is heavy on publishing only trump-good news while other reports match international media ( e.g bbc ) .

e.g you can read everywhere except fox that today iran breached the maximum amount of uranium .

lets look and see

so i overlooked it , thanks !

whatever , i,m curious what happens next to it . europe said it will have consequences if they break the deal . now its european move to show what consequences .

for my taste the iranian goverment jerks to much with us all.

The world is a very uncertain place these days, and a lot of it is intertwined...I simply caution you to choose your sources wisely and good luck in Germany. I personally don't think Merkle's shakes are solely physical...I think they are a physical manifestation of her emotional state....She knows what's a stake.

That's Laugh Out Loud.

Spineless, weasel elites always say things like that to keep the status quo. They cut a deal with a lying snake....that they sold centrifuges to with the control systems. They have been profiting off of Iran for a long time....

news report iranian tried to capture a british tanker but changed their mind after a british frigate turned their guns on them . very good job royal navy ! no shots fired but a hint to show the iranians who,s in charge !

Aerobat ...don't you know that Fox "News" and Trump are the only ones that tell the truth, and the rest of the media the world over have joined in unison to smear Trump and tell the same lies?

Oh that sounds ridiculous? You're right ...it does.

m prod : we ALL know . he claimed to give stormy a nuclear blast over her face in his showdown while she said his performance was weak. he twittered north korea with fire and fury and he started a very hard twitter retaliation after iran took action .
