i just purchased a new mattress for the boat. Great mattress, memory foam with a gel top. I have traditionally just used CA King sheets and tucked them in with no problem. The new mattress seems to let the sheets slip off regularly throughout the night. I’m trying to avoid spending $400 on custom made sheets which probably aren’t as nice of quality as what we’ve purchased for the boat. Does anyone have any tricks on what they’ve done to alleviate this issue? Thanks in advance!

A while back I had to use suspenders after some surgery - couldn't use a belt. When I bought them they were "buy 1 get1 free" and my daughter got 2 sets. Now that I am recovered, they work perfectly to hold the sheet on the weird shaped mattress...

Thank you. You eventually went to custom sheets. Thoughts on why?

Because while those straps held the King sheet in place on the mattress it still wasn’t as easy to put them on as it was a custom fitted sheet.
We also ordered a new custom bedspread, shams, decorative pillows at a boat show and while we were spending the cash I added a couple of fitted bottom sheets on the order to make life a little easier.
As long as I was breaking out the plastic I figured I might as well go for it.

Our custom sheets have elastic straps across the bottom to hold them in place. A piece of Velcro holds the top sheet to the bottom sheet where it is tucked in under the mattress. We had them made from new king sized sheets from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Used our Tiara made originals as a pattern. Local seamstresses will charge you lots less than going through a boat vendor.

Where did you purchase from?
Thank you

We ordered from a vendor at the NY Boat Show. They’re located in New Jersey.
Here is a link to their website:

I think they usually sell the sheets as a set with a fitted, flat and two pillowcases.
We weren’t really interested in the flat sheet or pillow cases. We just wanted two fitted sheets and she accommodated us.
They were an afterthought. My wife picked out the bedspread, shams and decorative pillows and once that was all settled I asked about only getting the fitted sheets as opposed to sheet sets and they added them on to the order.
I was initially going to cut a King Sheet down to size from a template and bring it to the local Dry Cleaner to have elastic sewn in but that kind of labor is fairly expensive around here anyway and I didn’t want to be bothered with it.
Can’t remember what the sheets themselves cost, but whatever the boat show discounted price was I remember that I figured by the time I bought the sheets, took the time to cut them and paid to have the elastic sewn in I wouldn’t really be saving that much, if anything at all.

+1 on the suspenders-- I have three sets on mine. They've been working for 4 years or so.
