Vent Window Actuator

Thanks you made a good video but mine is recessed into the dash panel so I’m trying to find a way to get into compartment

If you take some picts perhaps I can make a suggestion or two.

Sorry it wasn't more helpful....I took a look at your parts manual (very helpful resource BTW)

And this image might be helpful...It appears by the part number that the actuator might be the same we all seem to be using..

I just ordered a new "Mini Linear Actuator" Part # PA-14-4-35 from Progressive Automation for just over $100 including shipping. I decided to order from them because it was shipping from within the USA versus EBay where they are much cheaper but given they come from Hong Kong or China I just wasn't sure how long it would take to arrive. The actuator I ordered was rated for a 35lb load (smallest available) but they only had the 50lb load in stock. Although the vent window is obviously much lighter than 50lbs, the actuator will automatically stop when opened or closed so there's no chance of breaking the vent window (I confirmed this with Progressive Automation). It was very easy to install on my 2003 360 Searay Sundancer ... I simply removed the cap covering the existing actuator (4 small screws), removed the clip holding the back-end in place, cut the wires, then went onto the bow of the boat to manually open the vent window and remove the old actuator from the cross-bar. To install the new one I used the two existing brackets from my old actuator and I added some quick connectors to all the wires. Then I reversed the process (started by installing on the vent window, then connecting the wires, then connecting the back and making adjustments to align). The entire process took under 30 minutes and I'm not great with electrical repairs :)

Did you ever fix your vent? I own a 2007 48 sundancer and having the same problem. I believe you access the actuator by cutting thru the cauking to carefully remove the panel. But then where do you find the motor ? What did you do >?

Just an FYI, I thought mine was going down the drain too, but before I bought a new actuator I bought a new control switch and it worked...

Capitan Bill. I used WD 40 on the shaft to get it moving after it started moving I coated the shaft with white grease. That was a year ago and have not had another problem with either of the ether of the events.

I'm getting power to the switch so it is the motor. I know they stick after a 3 month lay over but can't free it. I spayed inside my vent cover with wd 40. I hate to cut into the cover as it will be a long messy ,ugly job.

I ordered a new vent actuator from Progressive Automations, wired it up and it didn't operate in either direction. The old one worked most of the time, most often when it was warmer weather, so I don't think it's the switch.

I could understand if I'd reversed the two wires and it went the wrong direction but puzzled as to why it wouldn't work.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Do you have power to the actuator when you active the switch?

Thanks guys - I tested directly with the power source and the new actuator was fine. I did find that the old quick connect was inconsistent in sending power so I'll replace that - just a bad connection there.

Now to find the right spray paint for the actuator cover, as I'm going to touch that up while I'm at it.

I'm also waiting for a reply but I heard you have to cut the caulking out of the cover on the dash. Scary way of doing it for me.

It would be so nice if everyone made such well explained, simple, straightforward videos.....sadly most people, although good intentioned, don't understand the viewer experience.

I just bought a 2000 340. I am looking for the cover that goes on this. I’ve seen both vinyl and canvas. Any leads?
