I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times before, but I'm new to searay and boating in general!! The Smartcraft multi function display in my 2004 340 Sundancer is bleached from the sun (I'm guessing) and unreadable. Kind of like the pumps in a gas station A local marine electronics repair shop in my area said he will not repair because it cannot be guaranteed to last very long. How has anyone dealt with this situation. I'd like to upgrade to a Vessel View, but don't know if I have NMEA 2000 capability and also deterred by the price !! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

There is a guy on here offering services to fix the display. Search for SC5000 and I’ll think you will find him

Mikeygfly is his username here. He is near you in Florida I think, so you might be able to just bring it to him. Search for posts by him.

Another option, get a Mercruiser VesselView Mobile smartcraft Bluetooth adapter (150-250?) and you can see the engine codes and engine data on your iPhone/iPad/ or similar device with the free app from Mercruiser.

Thanks Todd320. I'm searching for his post now. I have considered the mobile view, but as an addition to a functioning dash unit!! From a $$ perspective, that may be my best alternative.

He's at gaugesaver.com in Palatka,FL. Pay online through eBay.

Another option is to add the Smartcraft to N2K gateway and then you can bring up your data on your MFD if it supports it.

I believe the VV's NMEA 2000 capability is optional. The VV connects into your smartcraft network. NMEA 2000 is only required if you wish to share your engine data with your MFD. At least that's how I understand it.
