I have 2 battery switches

I have the owner's manual for my 06 32 Sundancer, but it has no info on the two battery switches. And, I'm surprised the manual does not even have an index in the back of the book. So, here are a few of the questions I have that I'm sure you can help me with.
1. I have 4 batteries - one for each engine, one for the gen and I would assume a house battery. Can they all be charged with shore power with both switches in the "off" position?
2. What is the purpose of each switch? It appears one is for the cockpit and the other for the house.
3. With the boat on shore power, is there any reason to turn either/both switch off? In other words, can they be left on all the time when using shore power?
4. What else do I need to know about these two switches that I'm not smart enough to ask?

I don’t know how you batteries are wired but the reason for two switches is to isolate the house bank from the starting bank. When you are on the hook turn the starting batteries to Off to preserve so you can start if you run down the system. If you leave the batteries in the Off position they should still charge from the battery charger connected to shore power. I leave mine On when away from the boat partly because I always run my genny when underway so it’s easier to remember. Others may disagree

You can charge with the switches off or on. No power is being drawn when off. Fridges are on110v when off. Divided into 2 banks, Port is house loads. I usually turn mine off when I leave.

What Jim says. We turn the Starboard switch to "on" when we're at the dock as it powers the sound system and head system, water pump, microwave if needed. Port goes on when we're starting up and heading out. Once we're at anchor Port is turned off. I prefer to shut down all batteries when not on the boat for extended periods of time.

As long as you're plugged in and the AC Converter is on, you're batteries are being charged.
