OK, so now we're dog owners and wondering what we need to take him into Canada. I'm guessing we have to prove all his shots are current, but what else do we need to have or need to know to make that happen?

Just take a current Rabies vaccine statement from your vet...

We take our Corgi Odin with us every trip up... When we are clearing over the phone they ask if Odin is with us.

So Mark, you're saying they store the dog's name in their computers so they know he's on board?

Thanks for the information.

Hi Mike, yes I believe they have it stored in the file they have on us... They have brought up Odie even before we mention it and the one year they scolded me for too many refreshments on board, then they have brought up too in subsequent years.

Since you now know Odin is allowed in just tell them you have Odin with you.

Vaccination record and a recent letter fro vet stating that the pup had been examined and is healthy. . Best bet is to call Canada Border Sevices as rules do change.when are you coming up and where will your port of entry be

HT, no planned trip at this time. Well, actually I've been planning it for a few years but my MIL is 103.5 years old and we won't make the trip while she's still with us. We would not want to be up there somewhere out of radio range and have something happen to her and we not find out about it for a week or two.

Entry point? Not sure yet. Probably somewhere around Vancouver.

Mike, get a Nexus card and do it by phone... And it great at the airport for TSA pre check too. Typically most of us cross at Port of Sidney or Bedwell Harbor.

Don't you have to be in Seattle for a lengthy interview to get in the Nexus program?

We get over there from time to time but not often and not on a regular basis. :(

The last time I checked in to it the only place for the interview was Blaine by the boarder...

Yeah, that's too far out of our way (by car) to get a NEXUS card that we'll probably only use once or twice.

Easier take passports and dog shot records with us when we go.
