On my 2000 340 Sundancer I still have the original tube TV. I'd like to upgrade to a flat screen in the same location as the current TV location.
I'd also need to update my Glomex (round disk) antenna which is broken. Can someone tell me:
1. What TV is a good upgrade (what brand and size) for the current TV in its current location for my Sundancer?
2. Can you recommend what Glomex TV antenna I should buy to accommodate this TV upgrade?

Thanks

i have a 28" flat screen made by Sceptre mounted on the original pull-out turntable.....i would just stay with the original Glomex antenna....mine works great....we can still pull the turntable out and swivel the TV to where we can watch it from the V berth bed....this set-up provides storage behind the TV for things like bags of chips....i also have a DVD Blu Ray player mounted behind the TV but we seldom use it....the orange bungee cord is only used while cruising to keep the turntable from sliding out....the remote control is secured with velcro....

Similar to Cliff I had a 21" mounted to the OEM pull-out rig on my 340.

One thought/tip - don't go uber cheap on the mount you buy. You'll want a moderately stout swivel bracket if you boat in anything other than serene 6" waves all day long. I had a super cheap swivel on my 340 and had to apply several MacGuyver inspired fixes over the years to keep it from dancing around during moderate chop.

I have a 21" flat screen on mine, mounted on the original pull out table as well. I put L brackets on the table and it locks just as the original did. I didn't think I could go bigger and still be able to rotate it to be viewable from the V berth. Sounds like I was wrong based on what Cliff said. I also have a blue ray player behind it and keep all remotes, movies etc. back there. I have the original Glomex and it works great. I get stations from Cleveland, Toledo, Detroit and some from Canada.

THANKS for your responses. I also have the pull out swivel table that my current TV is on.
1. Regarding the mounts used:
(a) I see Jeff used L brackets.
(b) Cliff, Can you clarify what mount(s) you are using?

2. How do you prevent the TV from bouncing around while cruising?

3. Also, I see you both used larger TV's. I was initially thinking I could only use a 19" TV at maximum size. But you both show that I can go with a larger screen size.

4. Regarding the Glomex, I need to buy a new one because the current one is broken. Can I use the same cabling to connect the new Glomex in place of the old one?

On the Glomex, you can use the same cable. But they also offer a lifetime warranty. The company name is Imtra and if you send them back the broken parts, they will send you new ones. The antenna works really well. I am 40 miles outside Atlanta and still bring in channels. In Long Island, you should have no issue. To get the old dome off, you need a coax tool, looks like a screwdriver with a slotted socket you can pick up at Home Depot or Lowes for less than $20.

i just used the mount that came with the TV...i used stainless steel bolts and nuts to secure it to the turntable....i use the orange bungee cord seen in the photo to keep the TV and turntable in place while cruising...i added two black cabinet knobs to the front of the turntable for the bungee cord to rest on...the bungee cord is routed under the turn table and hooks on the slider frame for the turntable....

I'll have to snap a photo next time I'm on the boat, but when I bought my 340DA, the turntable had already been removed, and the space was just used for storage. The Glomex antenna still works, and the amp, so I used a swing arm mount to put a 22 inch flat screen TV with a DVD player in that space. The swing arm is bolted to the right side of the compartment, and can swing to lay flat against the opening, or tilt out to face the forward berth, or aft towards the rest of the cabin. The swing arm is totally overkill for a 22 inch TV, but I thought it would hold up better, and has a nice broad mount. It's big enough to swing the tv out of the way so it's over the bed, and you can access the space behind it for storage.

I also have a bungee cord like Cliff to snug it up when underway. The arm joints seem stiff enough that it might not be necessary most of the time, but in rough seas you'd want something.
This is the mount: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Heavy-Duty-Articulating-22-inch-55-inch/dp/B01KBEOL5E

Mine still uses the original latch on the table. It's very solid and doesn't move in seas. A better description is probably a right angle mounting bracket that is flush with the outside of the pocket, through bolted to the table, which means when the latch is engaged, the TV is right against the opening. Two weeks ago I checked all the screws to the tv itself (the ones through the bracket) and two needed tightened. That same weekend after one trip the coffee maker was on the salon floor but the TV was fine. That's now on the "check periodically" list. I see what Cliff did and that stickout might be why he can still swivel a larger TV... He's got me thinking.

I can’t figure out how to unlock the table on my 2001 310 so I can slide it out to remove the tv. Any help is appreciated.

I used this articulating mount with this 24" tv.

The TV can run on 12V, so I wired it to a 12V receptacle in the back of the cabinet. I also modified an Apple TV to run on 12V. This way I can watch TV without running the Gennie. For off-air, I just use the Glomex already installed on the spoiler.

I did remove the drawer and mounted the arm directly to the floor of the cabinet. The mount is pretty robust, and I have not needed a bungie to keep it flat against the cabinet when underway.

I don't know if it's the same on the 310 but there is a button between the light switch and the vent switch in the galley that unlocks the "drawer". Mine stays unlocked for a few seconds and then locks again.
