Seth, how’s it looking at your marinaSigh.
Holy.... I'm lost for words. It sucks. Wading through 10" of water from the end of the pier to the parking lot is typical. The ramps to the floating piers have been treacherous. People have been placing dock carts upside-down at the gate to use them as stepping stones. All the lights are out/under water, so traversing it at night is an experience, to say the least. A few weeks ago a neighbor was carrying his aged lap dog down the ramp when he slipped. To save the dog from being crushed under him as he fell, he tossed her into the lake. He hurt his arm and leg, but the dog survived. With a N or E wind, 25% to 50% of the parking lot is unusable. First Street, the fastest way to get downtown is often closed. On Sunday the barricades were off to the side, but by the time I got to the low spot I was thankful for Jeep's ability to raise the ride height. Even so, only the center of the street was passible and I checked under the floormats for water. My low-to-the-ground car has to stay in the garage - I have to risk a 10-20 detour delay or flooding it, so it's just not been worth it.
The store and restaurant have had to close several times because of flooding, and that's just the seiche. Don't get me started on the cold temps and incessant rain! Dock vacancies are at a level I haven't seen in 16 years. On Sunday afternoon, I bet there were 30 cars in the lot of a marina with 800 slips. Sorry to be such a downer, but have I mentioned that it sucks!? I've never seen a season like this.
(The transient pier has been better - the sidewalk over there is higher)
And then the mosquitoes will start up.The woods in my area looks extra lush and green, the vernal ponds are full, wood ducks, frogs, and salamanders are loving it.....but it's rainin' all the time and cool, the boating sucks.
Ugh!....if only summer would begin. Leaving in 2 weeks for a trip up north. Not sure ANY of the canvas will come off
