Adding Radar / Chartplotter

I’ll reach out to Ray Marine and see if that’s an option for me... thank you

What configuration are you running? The Axioms only had one port each. So to have a dual MFD setup with the Quantum I had to put in a HS5 switch to create the network. If it was just an MFD and Quantum or two MFDs I could have skipped the network.

Just a127 and the Quantum radar...

I have the RM wireless Quantum radar and I have not been happy with it at all... Do Not Recommend it !!!

I just installed the Quantum 2 with an Axiom. My take is it’s a pretty solid radar for my lake application. It lights up incoming traffic with big red overlay on the target and sees other boats before I can find them and gets my attention, exactly what I was looking for.

Just curious what your experience has been? I’ve had it installed just a week or two.

To answer the OPs question. It’s an easy DIY project. Hardest/most time consuming is planning the install, making sure you have the right cables, and a plan to mount it. I used a 5” Seaview mount and added the light bar/led masthead light. I’m pretty happy so far. The wiring is mostly plug and play these days.

The a127 should have the round network jack on the back. If that's not in use you would most likely run from there to the Quantum and not need a switch. I would check with Jim @ BOE and he will also have the cable if needed.

Thank you Kevin !! I just ordered the ethernet cable $111...

My issue has been the wi-fi connection keeps dropping and the reconnecting is a PIA... I just ordered the ethernet cable to solve this issue.

My eS9 to Quantum is the same. I could never get it to connect so I used a cable. I must say tho I do love the units and am looking into switching to Doppler.

Good to know...I bought the Q2 with the 10m power and Ethernet cables for $50 more than the base WiFi unit. No issues with connection.

As far as radar goes it works like I would expect. It will paint bouy markers, find and mark moving targets as either approaching or going away, and give you the “true tails” ie history of the moving targets position history. Doppler was the deciding factor for me. I don’t need long range/bird mode and so far the open arrays don’t offer the Doppler technology.

For me it is a major improvement in situational awareness, especially at night.
