Ugly Boats

We have a friend on the water with that Carver. Definitely not beautiful, but really is a nice layout both inside and out. Good thing about owning that boat is you don’t have to look at it while you’re on board. It’s only ugly to other boaters.

I have many pals with 2000-2005 era Carvers. The outsides are tough on the eyes but the insides are great. I tell them my feeling is the difference between Carver and Sea Ray is that Carver designs boats from the inside out and Sea Ray designs boats from the outside in.

Are you sure the picture is not just upside down? ;)

There is a red Donzi Sport Deck I see all the time. I get the concept - kind of a monohull pontoon boat. But somehow it it just looks....wrong. From every angle, just wrong.

We can at least argue that Carver sacrificed form for function.

I can’t find anything nice to say about most Galeons. Ugly design, poor fit and finish and then they decide to make the topside black?

Wow, it's even worse from the back. Those dual stairs take a huge chunk out of the bacmin

I saw a 51ish Galeon with the fold out balconies. The aft sides both tip out to expand the deck. One side has bar stools for extra seating. I can’t speak to the fit / finish, but that feature was really cool. My wife loved it.

Every time I look at this boat I am convinced the captain wears a Captain's hat, has one squinty eye, giant forearms and smokes a pipe. Probably likes spinach too.
I'm sure the owner of this boat is a bonified YUPPIE...……… ;)

as far as ugly duckling... this one always struck me as "love it or hate it" they seem to have a following.. not my cup of tea

I’m surprised nobody mentioned Bayliners yet.

Junky as they were, there were a few sharp looking Capri runabouts, but most of them were mutts. The one above a stand out dog.

My dock neighbor has a mint pre bottle nose Carver Mariner 33 that’s not exactly ugly, but suffers from a snub nosed, bull dog look that I don’t care for.

Great interior though.

Ive never seen a deck boat that I didn’t find ugly and pontoon boats are rafts with furniture on them, so I don’t even scrutinize their styling.
