Hey all,

I have an older style of the Commander series throttle and when disassembling it to remove the side panel on my boat a small plastic piece came out of the vertical part of the handle mechanism. It is the shape of a comma.

The throttle is off of a 1989 Sea Ray 200cc just to give the vintage of the controls. I am not sure where it is designed to go inside of the handle for reassembly and I don't see it in the manual for the throttle control. The plastic does not appear to be broken, but I would imagine that it probably matters to the proper performance of the mechanism. If anyone is familiar with this part and where it belongs and its orientation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I believe that is a piece that has broken off from the trigger (the button you press to get into gear). It's the part of the trigger that holds the rod that actually does the "allowing you to get into gear".

Mike. I think lazy daze is correct. I have that same p.o.s on my 88 240 sorrento. I have a spair one at home and can take apart and take a pic for ya if ya want. Had many hours of scratching my head dealing with it over the years. I take a pic of every part i remove to make sure it goes back correct

Good Morning, Sorry for the delayed response, but you are both definitely correct. Once I took apart the top of the handle, I could see where it had broken off the throttle engage trigger. I am curious if anyone has suggestions for where I might find a part like that (a brief internet search seems to suggest this is pretty out of date for ordering parts), or if anyone has suggestions for how to glue it back together. Thanks for the responses, you guys were spot on!

Thanks so much Jeff! I looked on their website this morning but didn't dig deep enough. Part is ordered, now I have to be careful not to go too deep into that website, could get dangerous with an older boat!

Np. O yeah. I did. Replaced every thing shinny on my duel control. Internet is dangerous for a boat owner. Boat dollars are like 1 1/2 real dollars
