Trouble Shooting 8.1 Squeak/Squeal

Not all 8.1’s have the tensioner pulley. It was an add on later. Mine are designed like yours as well where we have to loosen the alternator in order to remove the belt. The idler pulleys are just pulleys.
 
post a pic of your setup. It wont be hard to tell when we see it. usually v belts should have 1/4 in. movement when you depress them.
