Looking to purchase 52 sedan bridge

I would rather do maintenance on the cat after coolers than buy any Mann part. Made in Germany and expensive. All the big money Sportfish (Viking/hatteras) are using them. That is th bigg st complaint from the owners and they have money to burn.

WHOA !!!!! Now the conversation turned from seeking a 52DB from anywhere, to now being one we know of. Let's talk facts, now that real cards are hitting the table.

#1, the Cummins engines in Joe's and everyone else's 52's are not under-powered by any stretch. Great cruise range, and efficiency on those engines. So if your search leads to one of those packages, have no worries in wrong engine choice.
#2, the 52DB we are now talking about is well known because of it's history and protection. Yes, this boat had two brand new OEM fuel tanks replaced a few years ago, as you noted. And Yes, it is hard to tell that work was even done once completed. I'm up'in my bet on the table, so watch me now......So we now know the boat has two NEW tanks (which I do believe to be a great thing), and the work was done at Prince William Marine, and support from Sea Ray Boats..humm
#3, your concern over engine support is not only valid, but a real touch point I hear at every boat show across the land. Performance Diesel Inc. (PDI) out of Houston, does support the motors they sell in the US, and they have a relationship with PWM. You say there are two guys in your area? I know the two you are mentioning, and believe me, you are in good shape.
#4...forth card down, how ya lookin'?.... you also are considering cost, and we all know that's the bottom line. I cannot help in that discussion, simply because you are playing your own cards here. I have historically known that PWM is not a discount seller. And Yes, a lot of the stories you hear about their method of business, and customer care, is unique to some, and hard to understand for others. The owner of that marina/dealership once told me.." I am not in the selling business, I am in the service business", those words are easily said, but this man, and his entire staff, practice what they preach. If this boat is to be purchased from PWM, and is to be cared for by PWM, there is so much added value to this deal which needs to be seriously considered. I don't even know the dollar amount that could be measured up against the protection amount, that goes with "piece of mind boating", in a limited season environment. Again not my place to talk dollars, but if I knew Jennifer Aniston was behind door #1, why the heck would I even ponder door #2?? I'm out!
#5 last card down...Mr.Carlton Phillips. You win !

We felt the same about the layout. There is 1 other change - the bunks went from 5' 3" to 6', which was important for our kids.

Also agree on the master bed.

I do wish some of the windows in the salon opened. At a Sea Ray rendezvous last summer, the Sea Ray rep asked me about how we liked the boat, and I said my only complaint was that the windows didn't open (like the newer ones). She said that the 520 has a higher offshore rating than the 510/550 Fly, because the windows are much stronger and can take a bigger wave without breaking. My response: "that sounds great, just wish I could open the windows".
Have you had any problems with cabinets delaminating?

I have a 2006 52sb on Lake Michigan.

Wide open throttle equals 36 knots
Cruise equal 30 knots....Based on Lake Michigan and fuel burn....I typically Crews at 27–28 knots.

The boat is ultra smooth and ultra quiet....freaky smooth and quiet.

I too was concerned about service availability versus Cummins. What I quickly learned is that 90% of maintenance can be done by any dealer for the 90% of stuff.

(Impellers, Fluids, Filters, Belts, Alternators, Starters....)

If were to offer advice that I wish I would have gotten on day 1 of buying to boat....or at survey....I would advise getting a MANN Certified tech to walk you through the engine display and engine codes. MANN Engines tend to over communicate, meaning throw error codes. The display is very German and somewhat analytical / complex.

Having the tech there to baseline all your reading some numbers so eventually when it does throw an error code will guide you to if it is important or just to keep on going.

Having the tech walk you through the engines overall and how to maintain them for confidence and uptime will save you a lot of questions and anxiety.

I would agree that the parts are more but not significantly more than Volvo For example. I know we’re talking about the comparison of Cummins but....the 90% of parts listed above are not some much higher to freak ya out.

I know many guys who have a Cummins and like them just as much....Everything has pros and cons.

I am a scale of 1 to 10 I am at a 10 of happiness with the MANN diesels. They are clean, quiet, and fast.

The bottom line is once you find someone that services any engine you just need to form a partnership with them to create a service level that works for all parties.

I have a 2011 and the delamination on cabinets are pretty bad. They were that way when I bought it last year. The previous owner was from northeast but took the Boat to FL for the winter so I think it stayed down there closed up without AC on. We knew it was something we would have to tackle in the future. I was hoping someone would figure out replacement sheets of the laminate that matched existing color but that hasn’t happened yet so I am in a holding pattern on repairing it.
