'02 340 DA. When it rains, I seem to collect a lot of water behind the captain's chair at the helm. It eventually drains away somewhere (takes a long time), but leaves a lot of dirt behind. Any ideas as to a solution? Am I missing something here, or is this normal?

A certain amount is to be expected and can be worse in wind driven rain. A lot of it depends on the design of the enclosure.

Try to be on board during a storm and see what’s going on.

That seems a bit odd. On my '99 340 I did not get water in that area even during the heaviest rain. It seems like you'd have to have quite a leak in your windshield area to get water forward of the helm seat. My experience was that any leaks on the side windows would tend to head aft of the seating area and collect under the arch.

A friend with a hose can help you find the leak. It's a one beer job.

And FYI - your signature says you have a 2000 340 but your post says 2002. Pretty much the same boat...but still :)

Some people leave their eisenglass off or open most of the season thinking its a boat and its meant to get wet....maybe this is the case and he is just thinking searay should have planned for this and located a drain or weep holes so water can drain thru.

^^^ This^^^ and yes, it IS an '00. Brain fart.

So you do leave your canvas/glass panels off the boat? I assume you will not find a particularly great answer for your question if you're leaving the boat uncovered. Perhaps run a bead of silicone in front of your helm seat, force the water to run in front of the bench, down the step and aft from there.

It's rarely uncovered. It's more so when I wash the floor. The boat sits a little down at the stern, so water pools behind the captains chair.

It is surprising that searay never changed the design as that is how my helm is made and that was back in 1990. You think they would mold in a weep trail or floor drain/spud.
