Anyone familiar with the moorings near the Thimble Islands? Would like to overnight there one of these weekends but not sure if there are open first come first serve moorings. Would sleep better on a mooring ball rather than on the hook.

Cool spot - its kinda like a mini down east maine! dont know about the moorings, but i do know that between the "ferry", power cables and granite bottom its a tough place to anchor. Have you considered Falkner?

Hi Irie- I grew up in Branford and am there most weekends. The mooring balls, as far as I know, are private but depending on the night there may be a couple you can use. I know the owner of at least one of them and a few of them belong to yacht clubs in town. I was there monday but anchored and didn't check which moorings are in right now. Message me and I can give you specifics.

Have not considered Falkner. Seems a bit "out there"? Wanted to a bee closer to shore for dingy cruises/exploring etc.
