Volvo D6 w/IPS450 Pods
We accepted an offer on Ciao Bella this afternoon, and this weekend will be our last weekend on the water with our 280. But, we are not giving up boating, just changing the scenery. On Wednesday our offer on a 2009 Sabre 38 Express Hardtop was accepted. The Sabre is a Down East, or Lobstah Yacht, style boat powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 450s (diesel pods). Appropriately, she is named Nun Left. And for those who know me, I finally have a boat with enough wood that I won’t have to make anything for it.

We are now both retired and want to get in some travel, so going bigger seemed like a good idea. For this summer we plan to hang around New England with plans for moving south for the winter.

So before I go, I wanted to stop in and say good bye. It’s been an experience. I know I learned a lot here, and hope I was able to help those I tried to help. Although I never expected to seriously discuss keeping a pig on a boat. I must admit I really will miss the almost inexhaustible attempts to explain and justify why a portable generator won’t, or can’t kill you. And I also will never forget those of you who sent messages of support to me while I was sick.

congrats on the new boat and thank you for all the knowledge you've dropped in the 280 thread! It's been a huge help for me. Post pics of the new rig!!!!

first of all the sabre 38 is a great boat with a SUPER layout for a couple - i like how the master opens up to the rest of the space as well as how the cabin below is open to the topside. Second, and more importantly, please stay - its people like you this site needs! Third, congrats and good luck with this next chapter.....

Woah what a boat! Huge congrats on that ..those Sabres are beautiful vessels for sure. I can go on forever as I am a huge fan of them.

And yes just to reiterate, no need to move on from this forum. There’s at least one other member here who has a Sabre (TMan with a Sabre 48) So many discussions here that are not Sea Ray specific ..just boating. I really believe this is the best forum on the web for power boating in general ..and it just happens to be labeled Sea Ray.

You have been a great contributor on CSR over the years Henry, stay in touch!

Congrats on your new boat! Sabre’s are nice. I’m doing something similar - moving to a Back Cove 34 so we can travel more.

If your want a forum for discussing Sabres (and Back Coves) sign up for the Back Cove and Sabre Owners group on Facebook. It’s a fairly small but good community. With a relatively small number of boats produced, it’s pretty much the only discussion group and a good resource.

Congrats on the new boat, perfect choice, you'll love the Volvo diesels.
But you will be greatly missed here, hope you chime in at least for diesel threads.
Take care.

Nice Boat! Congratulations on your plans, sounds like a winning combination. Enjoy.

“ enough wood that you won’t have to make anything”
Henry, I can see you making a nice teak grate for that floor in the head! ;)

best of luck Henry and smooth sailing in the future....

Congratulations! The Sabre’s are beautiful. My wife and I are always drawn to them at the NY Boat show. We both agree that they would be the perfect forever boat.

Wanted to see what a Sabre looks like on the inside and the first 38 I came across on yachtworld is Nun Left! Beautiful boat! Congrats!

Henry,

What a great boat! Congrats to you and your wife. I will say that your participation here has been extremely helpful and I hope you will stick around. You don't need a Sea Ray to be welcome here.

Thank you for all you've done here and best of luck on wherever your travels take you.

Congrats on the new boat! You can still hang around here even if you dont have a SR. I read several boat sites and am a member at the Silverton forum even though I've never owned one. Always things to learn. And many if our systems are cross brand compatible so info on say, JABSCO water pumps applies across brands. Best of luck on your reyirement.

Congrats on the new boat. Sabres are nice looking boats. I checked it out on yachworld. Looks awesome.

Congrats Henry,we have a 34 sabre here in the marina with dark blue hull and hard top.The owner is elderly and travels all summer on it,ive run across him a few times at different ports. He says it is very seaworthy and economical,i think its beautiful ,enjoy.Glen
