Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

So the admiral wants me to make a storage cabinet where the access cover is behind the transom door when open. Did SR have an option for that? Or has anyone converted it already? The 320s have a small storage cabinet there.

Here are some pictures...

First with cushion inside:

Then empty:

There is some room behind this but i am not sure how much you will gain. I not have time to pull the box out for a few weeks.

Hey just an update on that generator anti siphon valve I had water shooting out of. I made some calls to buy the pet locally and a guy told me there is a tiny duckbill valve in there that may have gotten inverted. Sure enough I going the thing, set it back in the right way and fired it up good to go. Just an FYI

I was thinking the same a while back but never followed through. Seemed like boatoutfitters would be able to provide the door. Let us know if you follow through.

Hey Kevin - I have had the cover off. There is about 7 inches of usable space. Is the compartment stock? I wonder if there is a part number for it. I have looked around online and found some possibilities, but nothing that would not require some reworking. Looked in your 2004 parts manual. Actually has a part number. Will check with a dealer n see if available for a little less than an arm or a leg. Thanks for the pics.

Yes, stock. I showed the part details in post 1877.

My guess is that sea ray designed the box shallow to accommodate the optional rod holder that would interfere with a deeper box. The docs seem to say its a 17 x 17 door.

Sorry- somehow missed your 1877 post. Going to check with my local dealer and check out the options. Will have to do some modifying either way. The current opening is only 13x16 ish. Thanks Again.

No problem, this thread got busy all of a sudden. Guess people are back to boating. I finally splash today (hopefully).

I looked everywhere to find the door. I ordered it from boatoutfitters.com I talked to the owner there and this is what he says the original door was. I have not installed yet. I will this weekend. I have to build the interior cabinet also. I'll do a test fit on the door Friday.

That's AWESOME. Always glad to hear when an easy no cost fix works! I tried that on mine but no luck.

While it's great that you found this and it will probably work I can tell you this was not the original. The original door was a powder coated metal frame with a sealing gasket.
