Official 370 Sundancer thread

Nope, you do not want both banks connected continuously. you need a momentary, like what you would find in a car before they started putting the solenoid right on the starter. Auto parts store, and then coat it with corrosion block like Sea Ray did. If there's a such a thing as ignition protected, get that. Sparks and gas fumes don't play well together.

Lights are in! Wow best 100$ I ever spent

I have a 1998 370. Ordered the deck material........... wife doesn't like it. If anyone is interested in it let me know. I have just the cockpit that replaced the carpeting.

Sitting in the Sky Club today, I started re-reading the 370 Sundancer forum from the start. Some have moved up, some have moved on, and some of us were there at the beginning and refuse to cave in. . The current forum is missing about 5 years worth, or its filed somewhere else. Regardless, this model is one of the few that tends to not suffer from 2 footitis.
I hope my amateur ramblings about all things 370 have helped my fellow owners. I know I have learned a lot, and have saved countless hours of diagnosis from this site in general.
Soapbox folded and stowed.

I don't disagree with your sentiments at all. When we bought our 370 back in 2012, I Googled cleaning the downstairs carpet runner. A bunch of Club Searay links came up. I clicked and was hooked. I was a lot more active up until a couple of years ago when some "life changes" happened for us. So, a bit of a lifestyle change (outside of boating!), staying pretty much away from online "social" activity for my sanity and lots of quality family time has resulted in my return.

I too have learned a lot, saved a lot and made some great new friends. And no, we don't have 2 foot-itis at all!

(I'll put the soapbox I borrowed back now.)

Still here from the beginning of the thread although not nearly as active as before due to some health scares that carried the additional threat of having to sell the boat and leave the water forever. Luckily that day was avoided and someday soon I will get the 370sundancer web site properly updated.

Everyone here is in it together for the better.

As a new 1996 370 DA owner, I just love this thread. Collectively there is more knowledge here on this particular model of boat than I think you could find anywhere, on any model.

I noticed that the 370 does seem to not plane out as level front to rear as my old 30’ Rinker. I think since it is much heavier in the back and a longer boat, especially with the one I am getting being the heavier twin Diesel.

I have made the unfortunate newbie mistake of letting my holding tank get pretty much full, and winding up in some very choppy conditions on a windy day. And now I get quite a malodorous smell when we flush, even tho we've pumped out the honey pot. So from my research on here, I need to replace my holding tank vent filter, boat is 2 hours away, is there a standard size for this filter?

Great news about your health!

Once the filter gets "wet" the smell will never leave. There are lots of posts about R&R of the tank vent filter. Basically, it is a PVC tube with connectors on each end so you can unscrew one, pay 85 dollars for a new one and screw it in. The innards are nothing special. A piece of foam at each end, and the tube is filled with charcoal pellets. It is pretty easy (although a bit messy) to cut the tube in half, dump the old innards, and run to pet smart to pick up a couple of aquarium items. One will be a foam filter sheet that goes in an aerator, and the other is a bag of charcoal pellets for an aerator. Then stop at big box, and pick up a PVC coupler so you can put the filter back together. Cut 2 foam circles for the ends, and fill her up with charcoal. You are done for about a half hour's work, and 4 bucks.

I appreciate the info on rebuilding that filter. I ordered a new one on Amazon, should be here today. But I'm going to rebuild the old one and keep it for a spare. Although I don't intend for this to ever happen again. There is so much to learn about owning a boat like this.

I just noticed a knock when I was parking the boat this weekend, it happened when I shifted into gear I head a knock, but it seems to go away once I apply throttle. This could have been going on all the time as I just noticed it one evening when I was putting it away in the middle of the night and it was dead silent out.

I had the yacht club tech take a ride and he thinks its definitely coming from the gearbox and said they are coming due for a re-build @ 800 hours.

Thoughts?

I don't think my opinion is worth that much, but I don't think I'd jump to quick on rebuilding those transmissions. Mine clunk like crazy when I shift into gear, and I have just under 1500 hrs on them. In the middle of the night, I'm sure they were plenty loud.

Update

I'm 90% there with my stereo... The wetsounds 8 inch towers sound unreal... I made custom 360 swivel quick release mounts (top of spoiler) out of plumbing parts at home depot. I couldn't find anything off the shelf that would do what I needed.
