420 DA Thread

Not sure why I didn't think of looking at the manual! Picture attached from page 106 of the Owners Manual.

I marked a couple that may be of interest.

I just bought this 44 lb one. I checked out the co. first and they claim it is mfg.'d by the same people that mfg. Lewmar. I can tell you it fits perfect and does exactly what it is supposed to do. https://www.ebay.com/itm/201256072054

Thanks, looks like they are sold out, now that I know it fits I’ll probably just go with the Lewmar 44lb. Defender has some good prices.

I bought this anchor several years ago along with the "flip swivel" which is basically a universal joint allowing the anchor to rotate and set no matter what angle or bottom countour. https://www.ultramarinewest.com. I have absolutely no complaints at all. It sets and holds every time. We do a lot of cruising and we've been in lots of fierce wind and waves. Bow candy!

So my “whiskey” top of dash compass has lost most of its alcohol. Is there a source anyone knows that rebuilds them or better/easier to replace? Can’t find the answer in search here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Major “win” today.....my generator kept shutting down after 10 seconds. 7 blinks indicated water flow problem even though plenty of water was being discharged. I tried cleaning the basket, changing the impeller, took endcaps off heat exchanger....still kept shutting down. Finally I figured there MUST be a flow sensor somewhere that could be sending bad information....and sure enough....found it and took it apart to find tons of corrosion inside. Wire brushed it and the leads, blasted it with the hose and poof my generator stayed running! In case anyone else runs into this issue it is located on the hose just after it leaves the water pump on the way to the heat exchanger.

So I looked at the DC panel in engine room in front of port engine as you indicated above in post #1941. All 3 red arrows you pointed at were the inoperative pumps......I was really hoping the breakers you pointed out were flipped which would have been the answer to my shower sump pump(s) failure. However, all breakers were "on". I tried pushing on them to turn off, then on again, but this panel of breakers are all rigidly locked in "on". They don't move. Anyone have any thoughts about this or why 2 shower sump pumps and the forward bilge pump in engine room all don't have power suddenly?? NO SHOWERS AND NO AIR CONDITIONER UNTIL I FIGURE THIS ONE OUT

To turn off the breakers there is a small slot to push the breaker to off position with a screwdriver or something like that.

I believe they did that so it was hard to bump into them and turn them off.

Is there power to the feeds before the switches? Time to start working back towards that panel.

All, hopefully someone will know the answer to this without having me take it apart... anyone know what model toilets we have on the 420s? I have the manual but it is the same manual for a number of different models. This is for the aft head; I need to replace the toilet seat itself.

Thanks in advance

A friend has a 2005 420DA and the maintenance light came on today. The starboard engine battery went low while on the water floating. We used the emergency start to jump over and fire it up. The red maintenance light was on after it started. What is causing the problem? Will a Low battery trigger the light?

No way....the red light at the toilet is coincidental the battery issue. The likely culprit is a full holding tank or a vacuum leak.

Am replacing the impellar on the genny and getting a Flashing 3 code. The Genny will not even attept to start until the code is cleared. Any one have an idea how to clear the codes? The battery switch to the Genny has been in the off position for awhile but still flashing code and no attempt to start..

villain....I just found this...

https://manuals.heartlandowners.org/manuals/Electrical/Generator/Onan 5500/Onan Troubleshooting Codes.pdf

Three blinks indicates a service fault. Press Stop once to cause the two-digit, secondlevel fault code to blink. (Pressing Stop again will stop the blinking.)The two-digit code consists of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 blinks, a brief pause, and then 1 to 9 blinks. The first set of blinks represents the tens digit and the second set of blinks the units digit of the fault code number. For example, Fault Code No. 36 appears as: blink-blink-blink—pause—blink-blink-blink-blink-blink-blink— long pause—repeat

Now, to find out what the "secondlevel" fault codes are......Just keep scrolling down that page, they are toward the bottom.

The red maintenance light was on the driver's console, not in the head. It appears to be a battery issue. One of them was low on water and after filling and charging, the light went away.
Thanks,

Keith
