What's the meaning of.....

Ahem.....

From Google....
Q: How many lakes are there in Michigan? A: There are more than 11,000 inland lakes, 5 acres in size or larger, in Michigan. According to the Michigan Historical Society, one is never more than 6 miles from an inland lake or more than 85 miles from one of the Great Lakes.

Well now you did it.... :)

Although promoted as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," Minnesota has 11,842 lakes of 10 acres or more.

I've always believed there are 2 types of people that boat. The first are people that own boats. You know the ones....they have the boats in the marina that sit unused except for 3-day holidays. And they are at a loss why it won't start. (I don't get I....it ran last year on July 4th)

Next, there are Boaters. We're the sick individuals that just can't get enough. We look at Yacht World or Boat Trader for fun while eating lunch; or we are happy to be on the boat even if we don't leave the marina; or we can be perfectly happy with a weekend completely alone on the boat. (Honey, I'm going to Vegas with the girls this weekend. Will you be OK here by yourself?) Oh yeah....we're the sick ones.

I have always proudly considered myself....A Boater! So when I needed a User Name for this, the first forum I ever joined, Boater seemed automatic but it needed more so I added NorCal as I was living in Sacramento,CA at the time. NorCal Boater was born.

I agree. We've live on this lake since 1977 and know many people who own boats. Yet many are not boaters. Some have been boating for decades and can't dock a boat in a 15-20 MPH wind. We have a neighbor across the lake who I had to call out to, and tell him his boat was sinking in the slip. Muskrat had chewed a hole in the bellows and the battery was running down because the bilge pump was running constantly. He was sitting on his patio as we happened by his home, and didn't notice it was riding low in the water.

i guess i am just 'old school' on things like this....whenever i am speaking to someone either in person or via. a forum like CSR i just like to know their name and i want them to know mine....to me it makes a little different level of connection with each other if we know and use real names...so i keep my forum name pretty simple...

i never have been one to use some sort of 'nickname' or 'handle'....but that is my issue to deal with...o_O....

I agree on the name thing Cliff. I always sign my posts.

Mines pretty straightforward- initials (two middle names...guess my parents couldn't agree!) and last name. A common email ID I use. I also like to use my real name.

First name is obvious. Navy nickname was Beast, mostly because the 1st 4 letters of my last name are East and perhaps because of some questionable decisions in a bar or two. so....bobeast

1956 oldsmobile, what i just finished after 13 years of puttering in the garage when i bought my first searay and joined this site.Glen

Same as my boat name. Daughters name is Lucy, but she didn’t want the boat named after her. LUnaCY is appropriate for our family.
And My boats name is LUNA SEA for the same reason! LOL

Luna Sea, its crazy how much we spend on our boats and the lifestyle! lol

Mine goes back to 1995, when I signed up for my first email account. Back then, I was bracket-racing my '88 Mustang 2 and 3 times per weekend when I lived in Knoxville, TN. I still raced fairly regularly up to about 2003, and the name just stuck. Now that I picked up another Fox body, I may get back into it here and there.

Mine is my first hotmail account in 1996. Was an avid golfer then and "high slice" very accurately described my shot shape. I fixed my swing, but "low draw" wasn't as funny. First boat in 2004 cured me of the golf bug.
