can anyone tell me what the idle speed is in a 38 Dancer. going through canal with no wake... so slow enough not to cause wake but fast enough to get to the lake?
thanks

I was always more concerned about directional control with my boat at low/idle speed. We need a certain amount of water passing by our rudders for directional stability. At least that was always going to be my comment in the case I was stopped by a marine patrol officer for my wake. In my area and probably yours is that there are two (or more) types of wake signs. No Wake and Minimum Wake. So No Wake, I am all the way back to idle and Minimum Wake I am around 900/1000 RPM.

We are planning a sunset cruise tomorrow and will give you an exact number speed & RPM. But, my guess is that we are around 4 kts at idle (no wind or tide influencing). If you have any other questions or data points you want, let me know tomorrow. You can message me offline here and I will shoot you my # so you can txt me. I also have the 8.1 motors in my 380DA so the numbers should be close.

Supposed to be a good afternoon/evening for a sunset. NOAA says: Sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. We'll cruise the Gulf from Tarpon Springs down to Treasure Island/St. Pete and then back to Palm Harbor.

Have a nice day!

We run at 1,000 RPM and that usually matches the waves from the wind. Any less and you loose control. Speed 4 knots
