I have a 1977 240 Sundancer with twin 487 Mercruisers and need to install remote fuel filter. What I need to know is has anyone done this before and did you need to install a unit for each engine? I believe one unit will supply enough fuel for both engines but would like to have some feedback from others who have been through this. Was looking for gph specs for these engines but so far haven't found any listed.

Use one filter for each engine. Merc makes a kit if you want 'easy' - other manufacturers do, as well - such as Mallory or Sierra. You just need a filter head with pipe to barb adapters, along with a METAL fuel/water separator. Again - you can go the easy route with the filter - the Merc filters are something like $10 or $15 a pop. Or grab another brand.

I believe that would be a good route to take as if one filter clogs up you still have the other to get you home, even though it is always a good idea to carry spare filters. I know one unit would supply the needed fuel but for the reason mentioned before it is best to be on the safe side. Thanks for your input, now to figure where to mount the units.
