460 DA Owners Thread

We have a Victron 2000 inverter with built in 80 amp charger. I have set it up so that not everything will run off it, only most wall sockets (including the one for coffee machine), entertainment systems and lighting.

When we want the hot water, air con, toaster, hair dryer or hob for cooking we use the gen set. We try to get by with only running two hours in the morning and an hour in the evening.

A friend at the Marina put 4 very flat flexible solar panels on his Princess 67 and it has made a massive difference to his battery use. With solar recharge and just a little input from the generator thay are back up to 100% state of charge by 15.00 every day.

Do you use a battery monitor?

Good morning. I have a 2017 460, and I get a bit frustrated with fuel leakage when refilling the tanks. Has anyone successfully used the Clean Way Fuel Fill system (cleanwayfuelfill.com)? I'm thinking about buying one, but it may not work due to the rather extreme angle on the transom of the fuel fill port.

My marina has tried them on my boat and they didn't work so well due to the angle. Not saying the won't work, but my experience was that it was more work than worth the effort and simply listening for the change in air pressure was more reliable. Our tanks fill are on the stern and have a decent slope to them.

Thanks much for the feedback. The rep from Clean Way assures me that it'll work, but I'm just not so sure...

I am so ready to launch!!! May 13th is the date.
You know you are out of things to do prepping your boat when all you can find to fill the idle days is to wheel out your dock box. :)

Need help... the electronic shoreline reel keeps slipping when the shoreline is reeled into the unit. Has anyone had any issues and how did you repair

My buddy had this issue last summer. I believe the result was that there is a clutch wheel in the system that simply needed to be tightened up a little bit to maintain pressure on the cord.

Another buddy had the issue but his problem was that he cleaned his cord so well and made it so slippery it was just sliding through the rollers...LOL

Need an aftercooler for starboard engine. Anyone replaced one and where did you purchase from

Need a new Dinghy, I use the Nautley davits, what size do you dinghy do you use. Also on the cord reel, running it into the rear hatch was a PIA, easy fix to relocate as shown.

I have a 8’6” Mercury but I would buy a foot longer next time. Works well with an 8hp Johnson and is light enough to pull back on the platform.

As far as the aftercooler, the new style is expensive no matter where you get it. I would try your local dealer, diesel parts direct, then sbmar.com. No matter who you buy from you need to disassemble it and lube it like tony Athens suggest on sbmar.com. Also note the new ones have a drain port and they don’t come with the port it is sold as an accessory for some reason.

I did 150’ of chain and 150’ of rode. In the end it was similar money so I should have just went 250 all chain. It does help the bow rise attitude of the boat.

Has anyone replaced the Isotherm cockpit refrigerator with an icemaker? I'm thinking that will be much more convenient than hauling/storing bagged ice. Any suggestions on models?

Not very difficult at all. Electricity is already there if your fridge is 120V. A water line is easily run from the sink line. I added a Culligan filter as well. Put a U Line in mine, but take a look at an Isotherm unit. I believe it has clear ice.

Quick question- Notice that when I run my engines at 22-2400RPM I hold tight on 160 temp on both engines and can do for extended amounts of time. At WOT the port engine temp creeps to 175-180. The STB stays about 160-165. Engines have about 1100 hours and have had 1000 hours service on Cummins CTAs. Cleaned Strainers and New Impellers this season. What are suggest next steps/suggestions? I have heard everything from Chlorine tablets in strainers to new thermostat. Thanks for everyones help

When was the last time you had the aftercoolers and heat exchangers serviced?

Yes, about 150 hours since the 1000 hour service. (In fresh water) They Cleaned and resealed the Aftercoolers/ changed zincs. He did note that he found some old impeller parts but said he removed them all and I had them replace at that time and have since on a regular basis. Also removed and cleaned the heat exchangers at that time.

Next time you are out check the on engine temp gauge and compare to the helm. You could also swap sending units and see if the problem follows.
