460 DA Owners Thread

It Looks great! What's next? You cant stop now, you can squeeze in one more little project before launch

Thanks!! I know right??? I am going to add the new air horn to the arch this week. The bow (factory) horn is pretty weak, so I am adding a new one...pics to follow. :)

I did get the additional underwater lights done prior to my recent trip to Singapore...I added 1 on each side of the hull at the stern just under the exhaust ports. Just thought when necessary I could light up my neighbors boat too. Pics to follow of course.

Can any one please advise, would a 2002 460 have an accumulator in the fresh water system?

Looking forward to the answers.

According to the 2002 parts manual on page 8, there is an accumulator behind the fridge.

Graham,
Our boat is the same year as yours. The accumulator bottle is beside the freshwater pumps in the engine room and is accessible. Unless of course it has been removed when someone put in variable speed freshwater pumps, for example.

Thanks for the replies Guys, going to the boat for Easter so I guess I better try looking harder.

Think I will try James suggestion first, really don't want to pull the fridge out to check the accumulator if it is not there.

Hi Graham,
I have been looking through photos of different 460 engine rooms and it might be that prior to 2002 the accumulator tank was elsewhere, such as behind the fridge as Bill suggests. As I said previously my tank (bottle) is right beside the port freshwater pump and connected into the cold water line with a simple "T". Easy to get to when you need a slight pressurization of the system, which I never have, but it makes sense to have it accessible.
I remember on my last boat I put in a variable speed freshwater pump and removed the accumulator tank as per manufacturer's instructions. Check your pump(s) and see if that's the case.
Good luck in your search. BTW, is your boat a "460" or does it have a Euro "515" designation? Might be a different configuration?

Hi James

You are correct, mine was built for the Euro market, 220 volt and designated a 515.

I will let you know what I find next week.

Looks great. Wish I could cut a straight line. Your talented!
Thanks...But I can't take credit for the straight line cut either. The CNC machine is to get all the credit. :)

WOW!
I don't know if it looks like 2K, but it certainly does look like it is HEAVY and takes up a lot of space...LOL

Where are those installed?
These will replace the four golf cart size ones I have now. They are located in the Starboard back corner. They are heavy but not to much more than the ones I already have. We will almost double our battery run time however the recovery on this size will take longer to restore. A good preforming battery bank on our lake is in the top three things you want and need if your wanting to stay on the lake for week or two at a time and not go back to the dock to plug in.

I have changed out the Gen,TNT Lift, Bow Thruster and now these to AGM batteries. The starting / House batteries will be next. It is a investment however not having to check and fill the water in the batteries will be nice.

Looks great...I have the same 3 Lumitec lights on my transom...but I got a little bored this winter so I added 1 more to the port and starboard sides recently. :)

I wonder what the neighbors will think...LOL
Great install!
What I really like is you get indoor storage over the winter. Oh boy the things I would do to the boat.

How many hours over a 24 hour period do you run you Genset?

Do you have any solar panels on the roof?

No solar ,but looking into some however dont really want to junk up the hard top. Usually run the gen two hours morning to bring everything back up. Mid afternoon a couple hour and then 6pm until 2or 3 in the am.

One thing I am still learning on this boat is the inverter system and how best to manage battery draw. The PO has it set up that most everything can run off the inverter so if your not running the gen in conjunction with the inverter doing its job those inverter batteries drop below your charged setting and once that happens you cant get them back up without running the gen for hours on end.

Yes I know some would just say ..... run the gen 24 seven. One of the beauty of our lake is shutting everything down and just enjoying the quiet.

I will admit now that I have a diesel gen over a gas I do run it longer into the night and dont worry about the CO.
