1989 Sea Ray weekender 300
Engines
350 mercruiser inboards
i bought a 300 weekender that was in a sorry shape.
After a year of work rebuilding engines, transmissions, complete below deck rewiring and replacing all hoses rebuilding and or replacing through hulls, re doing the complete interior, re doing the cockpit panels and seats, painting the boat.
Then put in the water and found that the original back to back seats are very uncomfortable and impractical (80s design) and no cup holders for the front seats.
So the rebuilding process has continued for a few more years as I have also enjoyed the boat while doing the work.
Here are some pictures

Here are more pictures of the updates in the cockpit
And one of my last projects was to install cup holders for the front seats, I had to redo both side panels due to depth restrictions.

The 300 WE has a nice use of space. We enjoyed ours for years. You do nice work.

Very nice job! As stated you do exceptional work! GOD bless, JC

Awesome job. Great choice of colors to modernize it quickly. And I love the pattern on the cockpit seats.

Had an 88 300 Weekender for 9 years. What an awesome boat with perfect size vs speed vs economy balance.

What you've done is amazing. That is beautiful. If you feel compelled keep posting pics.

Thanks for the comments
The nice thing about rebuilding an old boat yourself is the cost savings and quality.
I would recommend to anyone undertaking a boat project to understand the type of materialsused. Specially below decks.
I must have read Dave Pascoe’s articles that applied to my build at least two times.
Here is an idea for anyone that is replacing a headliner and wants overhead lights, due to depth restrictions you will have to build your own rosettes.
Run wires to the from a centralized switch or switches and where you are going to place the light pods

So fill us in some.

Did you paint all the wood on the interior or re-do it? What did you reuse? Counter tops replaced? What kind of electrical screen is above the dinette now?

I have an 87 230 weekender, your little brother. Your boat is a dream, I admire the custom older boats. I’m still all original cosmetically, with all upgrades being mechanical, etc. Luckily I had no reason to change anything because she is basically cosmetically perfect.

Very nice quality and craftsmanship, hats off to you sir...

Wow! Nice work and color scheme.

Once I took the interior apart, my wife and I sanded all the Wood including the tambour doors, stained and sprayed them with Minwax
Since I not only wanted the boat for family outings, I wanted to use it for fishing.
I found the front seats and recovered to match, and had to figure out how to make the rear facing seats to fold out of the way to have fishing deck space.
So I design the folding mechanism since I could not find anything of the shelf that would work for me.
Also instead of making single legs for the rear seat I made it a tray that doubles as a small table.

I'm not sure I've ever seen pics of a makeover that I thought came out as nice as yours did. My hat's off to both of you for the fine work you two did.

Very nice job on the redo, Rdela. I'm about to tackle the cockpit panels on my 300 soon. I am impressed on how your front inserts with cup holders look! Where did you find them? Ya, and the back to backs where uncomfortable. I lowered mine approx. 5" which made a huge difference.

I got them at greatlakeskipper.com
They carry a bunch of new un used parts that boat builders did not use.
I found the front seats and the inserts there.
