Guys, anyone have a scrap piece of burl wood dash material laying around? I need to make a trim ring to cover where my old Clarion remote was mounted and was thinking a donut shaped hole. Not picky as to the type as this will probably be temporary until I get new dash panels from tecnografic. I've seen a couple installs where folks cut a panel to mount a gps.

Open to ideas on how to better do this, if there is an easier solution than the dash material. I'd prefer not to use starboard. Thanks, Dan

I have an extra burl wood switch panel that's been lying on my workbench for a few years - I'll look at it when I get home and see if there's enough 'clean' space for what you're talking about. I'm thinking there won't be, though.

If you're not aware, you can get starboard in thin thicknesses (1/4") and in black - which would probably look pretty good? The edge of a cut piece of burl will likely look ugly... but you could paint it. Black lexan/polycarbonate could be another option.

Yeah, I guess any number of materials can work. PVC sheet is another. All good options.

A four or five inch circle is what I need to whittle it down to. I just need a surround for my old clarion remote hole, which I think is 2", which gives a 3" diameter donut shaped mounting flange.

The piece I have is about 4.25" x 8". Edges are rough, so probably about 4" usable on the narrow dimension. Let me know if you think that will work and I can send it your way.

Dan,

I found the piece we were talking about on Saturday. It's about 8" x 13". It's the cutout for one of my e127 MFD's. I will bring it to the lake this weekend. No Charge.

Thanks, Brett. Will catch up with you this coming weekend if you are out. Dan
