WOW....Do I need help!!

Sadly I just looked at my signature settings and the new info is in there.....don't know why it reverted back to the old info.

Glad it is a quick diagnosis with a relatively easy solution. Keep us posted of your progress. Thought about the alternator but didn't think you would lose complete power while running.

I’d personally be on a plane right about now. Sorry to hear about this frustrating beginning and hopefully they figure it out today. Fingers crossed.

Techmitch….I guess clicking on "Save Changes" may have helped. Irie308...Seems the Captain was painting a worse picture than really existed. Losing an alternator will cause you to lose gauges, electronics, etc depending on which alternator it is...….Stand by!

So I do have a plane scheduled to Wilmington,NC where I was supposed to take over. If things don't change in the next 24 hours, I may change destinations!!

Yeah, sorry to hear about your troubles, but I would not wanted to miss that trip if it were my new boat. Glad your joining the trip at some point.

I'm glad that fixed it......however........ the Port alternator failing should not kill the starboard engine and generator. That part of the story still doesn't make sense. Maybe it was the rum? :)

Glad to hear that it sounds like it turned out to be a simple fix and you can get the boat on its way!

So the boat is fixed. Ended up being the alternator. Fortunately an easy fix. The captain was able to locate a mechanic. Very thankful for all the input and support. Club Sea Ray is the best! The journey continues.

DING DING..I'm the winner...lol . Glad you got it fixed. Now go down there and pilot it home!

Sort of related experience. Had this same scenario with a 23 foot Sunbird a few years back. Running on plane for a little over 2 hours, off plane and motor died. Showed 1/3 tank of fuel while running, empty when leveling out. She was dead empty. Turned out the fuel cell had blocked vents (spiders) and was sucked down making the fuel gauge read 1/3. After pulling up floor access, saw the partially collapsed tank (fiberglass) and cleared the vents. Marina re-pressurized the tank with air and it went back to form. Added 5 gallons of fuel and started right up. Doesn't explain the no electrical, but does explain possibility above of no fuel.

So, after a short telephone conversation with the captain it became obvious the alternator malfunctioned. The initial information Mark received was incorrect.

Misinformation: the generator had not been used the entire trip, the port engine continued to run however, the starboard engine did shut down immediately after throttling back. Captain noticed low voltage on the starboard engine during trip and tested voltage once arrived at the dock which was almost zero. Makes total sense that all electronics would shut down because, they are powered by the starboard battery bank. Glad is was a simple and inexpensive fix.

I feel we never really own a boat, we are just custodians and our mission should be to pass them to the next custodian in better shape than we received them. I love that I sold my boat to a Club Sea Ray member and purchased my new boat from another member. No offense to the brokers on this site but, both club member-to-club member transactions went very smooth.

Mark, have a safe trip and call me if you run into any additional problems.

Agreed. Strangely, when I was bringing my 44 from Plymouth, MA up to Canada, we lost both alternators. It's a mystery to this day how or why. There were a few people on the boat, and the only thing I can think of is the main solenoids were accidentally turned off for a period of time while the engines were running. Neither was charging and the batteries were running dead slowly. Work-around was to constantly run the generator with the converter/charger on. Got home no problem without anything quitting...
